Lone Star Forward Lussier makes NCAA DI Commitment

The Lone Star Brahmas of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are proud to announce that forward Samuel Lussier has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for University of Alaska-Fairbanks.

The 5-foot-10 skater from Saint-Michel, Quebec, has secured a commitment with the Nanooks program. Lussier is in his first season playing in the League of Opportunity. He has laced up in 28 games this season with the Brahmas, tallying eight goals and 14 assists. One of his tallies was named the game-winning goal in a contest, while one goal was scored on the man advantage. This season, the ‘07 lefty in October featured five back-to-back two-point games for Lone Star.

The Quebec native was acquired by the Brahmas over the summer in the 2025 NAHL Entry Draft. He was selected in the 7th round, 236th overall by Lone Star.

The 18-year forward explains what it means to secure a Division I commitment. 

“I am proud and honored to announce my commitment to play Division I college hockey and further my education at the University of Alaska-Fairbanks. I want to thank everyone that has helped me along the way.”

Head coach of the Brahmas, Dan Wildfong, went into detail on what it means to see Lussier take the next step in his hockey career.

We are happy for Sam and his next step with University of Alaska-Fairbanks. The Nanooks are getting a skilled, hard-nosed hockey player. He has grown his game on both ends of the ice and we are excited for his next steps. 

Lussier is one of 11 members of the Lone Star Brahmas to make a Division I hockey college commitment.
