Danbury Defenseman O’Hara makes NCAA Commitment

The Danbury Hat Tricks of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are proud to announce that defenseman Gavin O’Hara has committed to play NCAA hockey for University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire in the WIAC.

The 6-foot-6 blueliner from the Windy City, O’Hara, will head to Wisconsin to skate with the Blugolds in the fall. O’Hara is a second-year NAHL veteran, spending most of his time playing with the Hat Tricks. This season, the 20-year-old has laced up in 42 contests for Danbury, tallying three goals while making five assists. The defenseman features a +12 rating and has secured a game-winning goal this season for the East Division team.

Last season, the Chicago, Illinois native started his NAHL career with the Corpus Christi IceRays. O’Hara laced up in 13 games for the South Division team and found the back of the net once while with the IceRays. The 6-foot-6 lefty would then be acquired by the Hat Tricks, playing in 33 games for Danbury. The ‘05 skater lit the lamp once, while notching 10 assists for the Connecticut-based team.

Head coach of the Hat Tricks, Lenny Caglianone, went into detail on O’Hara’s development during his time with Danbury.

“Gavin is an incredible hockey player and has grown a substantial amount in his time with us. The compete and passion he brings on a daily basis is second to none. The staff could not be happier for him and his family. Eau Claire is getting a true warrior and an amazing person.”

O’Hara is one of nine members of the Danbury Hat Tricks to make a college ice hockey commitment.
