Sunday Wrap-Up: The Brahmas Earn a Sunday Win on the Road

Lone Star 6 @ Shreveport 2- The Lone Star Brahmas continued its winning ways Sunday, taking down the Shreveport Mudbugs by a final score of 6-2. The Brahmas got contributions from all over the lineup with six different goal scorers and 11 different skaters registering at least a point. With the win, Lone Star extended its winning streak to four games and widened its lead in the South Division to seven points over second-place New Mexico and El Paso. Shreveport remain in a fifth-place tie with Oklahoma in the South with 50 points apiece. The Brahmas got the scoring started just under four minutes in. Tyson Scanlon buried his 12th goal of the year to give Lone Star the 1-0 lead. His goal was the only offense of the opening 20 minutes. Lone Star turned it on to start the second period. Goals from Dylan McFadden (ninth), Jake Tavares (fourth) and Denver Dampenhousse (ninth) saw the Brahmas pull away with a 4-0 lead after 40 minutes of play. After Liam O’Keefe (second) extended the lead to 5-0 early in the third period, Shreveport finally stopped the bleeding thanks to Charlie Burchfield”s sixth goal of the campaign. The teams traded goals in the later stages of the period. Vincent Gellar notched his third marker of the season for Lone Star and Jerimiah Roberts scored his seventh goal of the year for Shreveport with 6:32 remaining to bring the score to the eventual victorious final of 6-2 for the Brahmas.
