Elmira Forward Rubin NCAA Commitment

The Elmira Aviators of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are proud to announce that forward Luke Rubin has committed to play NCAA hockey for Norwich University in the Little East.

The 5-foot-11 righty from Fulton, Maryland, Rubin will head to Vermont to skate with the Cadets in the fall. The ‘05 skater has played three seasons in the NAHL. This year, he started his campaign with the Oklahoma Warriors, where he played in two games before being acquired by the Aviators. Once with Elmira, the third-year skater appeared in 30 games, tallying six goals and adding four assists. Last year, he started the 2024-25 season with the Maryland Black Bears, playing in 29 games with the East Division team. He scored six goals while making 10 assists for Maryland. Following his time with the Black Bears, he was acquired by the Oklahoma Warriors. He played in 19 games with the South Division team, scoring a goal while making three assists.

Rubin got his first taste of the League of Opportunity in the 2023-24 season. He played with the Maryland Black Bears in 35 games. Rubin found the back of the net eight times while notching six assists for the Black Bears. The Maryland native has played over 100 games in the NAHL. Rubin has 43 career points in his three seasons.

Head coach of the Aviators, Leeor Shtrohm, went into detail on why this program will be a great fit for Rubin.

“We are very happy for Luke and his family on his commitment to Norwich. With his family’s background in the military, Norwich is a program that Luke has had his eye on from the start of his recruitment process. He’s a very intelligent hockey player who makes good decisions with the puck in tight spaces and can finish.”

Rubin is one of seven members of the Elmira Aviators to make a college ice hockey commitment.
