Tuesday Tilt: A St. Patty Special as Aberdeen Clinches Postseason Berth on the Road

Elmira 6 @ Rochester 3 - The Elmira Aviators surged back in dominant fashion to defeat the Rochester Jr. Americans 6–3, overcoming an early deficit with an explosive second half of the game. Rochester controlled the opening period, jumping out to a 2–0 lead while heavily outshooting Elmira. However, the Aviators flipped the script in the second, netting two goals to even things up before completely taking over in the third with four unanswered goals. Despite being outshot 49–29, Elmira relied on a stellar performance from goaltender Jake Shingles, who turned aside 45 shots. Offensively, Evan Dantas led the charge with two goals, while Corson Maguire also made an impact. The game remained relatively disciplined, but Elmira capitalized on momentum swings and timely scoring to secure the comeback win

Maryland 5 @ New Jersey 3 - The Maryland Black Bears continued their dominant season with a 5–3 win over the New Jersey Titans, setting the tone early and holding off a mid-game push. Maryland came out strong with three first-period goals, putting New Jersey on their heels from the start. The Titans responded in the second with a pair of goals to cut the deficit, but Maryland answered with another tally to maintain control. Each team added a goal in the third, but the Black Bears never relinquished their lead. Special teams played a role, with Maryland converting once on the power play while successfully killing off all five New Jersey opportunities. The game featured a physical and chippy edge, especially in the later stages, as both teams combined for a high number of penalties. Ultimately, Maryland’s fast start and disciplined defensive play secured the victory.

Aberdeen 5 @ Watertown 3 - On the day of luck, coupled by wearing green, the Aberdeen Wings proved that they did not need green to have a little luck and grab a win over the Watertown Shamrocks on St. Patrick's Day. The Wings opened the scoring in the first period, with Brody Dustin starting things off. From the second, they kept it going, as Cooper Siegert snuck one by Mason Gudridge. But minutes later, the Shamrocks responded and broke the ice on the power play, when Dan Halonen capitalized off the opportunity. However, a minute later, Zan Spari-Leben answered right back by snapping in a feed from Lucas Schaefer. Not too long after that they would keep the momentum going, as Gavin Reed put one in the back of the net. Now in the third, the Shamrocks bounced back with some lucky charms to rack up a pair of goals, as Zach Boren sniped in the biscuit first. Several minutes later, Joe Rice put the Shamrocks within one of tying it. Because of that, their bench boss pulled their netminder for the extra attacker to try and work their magic with two minutes to work with. However, Cooper Anderson for the Wings took no exception and iced it for the empty-netter to seal the deal for Aberdeen.

Lone Star 0 @ Shreveport 5 - It's safe to say the Shreveport Mudbugs had luck in the air on St. Patrick's Day, as they shutout the Lone Star Brahmas on home turf. Joe Samango started things off in the first period by wristing one top-frame from a setup by Johnny Berndt. Then a minute before the first horn, Will Tremblay buried one after forcing a turnover in Lone Star’s end. In the second, Jared Greiner jailbreaked with Remy Pusateri by punching in a ‘shorty. From the third, Vincent Diilio tucked in a rebound created off a wrister by Pusateri. Finally, Grayson Gerhard capitalized on the power play with Duke Ehrhard. Ethan Phillips grabbed a 27-save ‘shutty for the Mudbugs.
