Friday Finals: New Jersey Delivers 4-2 Victory on Roadtrip

Northeast 1 @ Danbury 4 - The Danbury Hat Tricks delivered a strong, well-rounded performance to take down the Northeast Generals 4–1, controlling the game from start to finish. Danbury opened the scoring in the first period and never looked back, adding two more goals in the second to build a comfortable lead. Northeast managed to get on the board in the middle frame, but struggled to generate sustained offense despite recording 28 shots. Danbury sealed the win with a third-period goal while outshooting the Generals 32–28. Goaltender Jon Dukaric stood tall with 27 saves, anchoring the defensive effort. Kai Elkie and Deimantas Sulinskas each contributed key goals, while the game featured a high level of physicality with both teams racking up 31 penalty minutes apiece.

New Jersey 4 @ Rochester 2 - The New Jersey Titans capitalized on efficiency and timely scoring to earn a 4–2 victory over the Rochester Jr. Americans. The Titans struck twice in the opening period to grab early momentum and maintained their lead throughout the contest. Rochester kept pace early, scoring once in each of the first two periods, but couldn’t break through in the third despite outshooting New Jersey 31–21 overall. Titans goaltender Andrew Bely was a difference-maker, turning aside 29 shots to preserve the win. Owen Leahy contributed offensively for New Jersey, while the Titans’ ability to convert on limited chances proved decisive. Rochester’s power play struggled, going 0-for-4, which ultimately hindered their comeback efforts.

Maryland 6 @ Philadelphia 5 - In one of the most thrilling games of the night, the Maryland Black Bears stormed back to defeat the Philadelphia Rebels 6–5 in a high-scoring battle. Philadelphia came out flying, putting up four first-period goals on just eight shots to take a commanding early lead. However, Maryland responded with an explosive second period, scoring four goals of their own to even the game. The Black Bears continued their dominance into the third, netting the game-winning goal while finishing with a massive 52–25 shot advantage. Despite Philadelphia’s early efficiency and perfect power play (2-for-2), they couldn’t withstand Maryland’s relentless pressure. The game also featured heavy physical play and multiple misconduct penalties in a heated first period.

Elmira 0 @ Maine 3 - The Maine Nordiques delivered a disciplined and efficient performance, blanking the Elmira Aviators 3–0. Maine struck early with two first-period goals, setting the tone and forcing Elmira to play from behind the rest of the night. Despite being outshot 35–23, the Nordiques relied on an outstanding showing from goaltender Lukas Fursten, who stopped all 35 shots he faced. Elmira pushed hard in the second and third periods but couldn’t solve Fursten, while Maine added an insurance goal late in the third to secure the shutout victory. William-Francisco Parent led the offense with a goal, and Maine’s structured defense and timely scoring proved to be the difference.

Aberdeen 5 @ Minnesota M 4 - The Aberdeen Wings showcased their resilience on the road Friday night, overcoming a late deficit to defeat the Minnesota Mallards 5-4. Aberdeen set the pace early in the opening frame as Jibber Kuhl found the back of the net off a feed from Easton Edwards to grab the initial lead. The Mallards responded with two quick tallies before the first intermission as Deke Davidson tied the game with help from Joe Marchi and Tyler Kusznier. Followed by a Kusznier goal set up by Ryan Lucarelli and Lewis Majkozak to put Minnesota ahead. The back-and-forth action intensified in the second  period as the Mallards extended their advantage to 3-1, with Marchi scoring behind assists from Drew Bowe and Cohen Hoening. Aberdeen refused to fade, however, as Caden Lee buried a power-play goal assisted by Brody Dustin to cut the lead to one. In the final frame, the Wings surged back to reclaim the lead. Lee notched his second power-play tally of the night off a pass from Jonathan Doucette, followed shortly by a Herman Berggren goal assisted by Anthony Ciaramitaro to make it 4-3 for Aberdeen. Minnesota found a late answer as Bauer Murphy tied the game at four each following assists from Kusznier and Lucarelli. Sam Scheetz ultimately secured the victory, firing home the game-winner in the closing minutes off a pass from Doucette. In net, William Braun provided the necessary stability for the Wings, turning away 22 shots to protect the lead and clinch the 5-4 result. With the victory, the Aberdeen Wings notched their 33rd win of the season.

St. Cloud 3 @ Watertown 2 (SO) - The St. Cloud Norsemen earned a hard-fought 3-2 shootout victory over the Watertown Shamrocks on Friday night on the road. In what was a defensive battle, offensive opportunities became critical. The Norsemen drew first blood in the opening frame as Mate Tardi found the back of the net, off assists from Christian Garrity and Cristian Nichols, to grab an early 1-0 lead. The Shamrocks refused to back down, finding an equalizer in the second period when Owen Chartier beat the keeper following feeds from Owen Fask and Justin Obrochta. St. Cloud reclaimed the momentum later in the frame as Sam Crane notched a goal off assists from Avry Shaw and Griffin Sturm, but Watertown once again responded before the period ended. Daniel Halonen knotted the game at two apiece for the Shamrocks with help from Justin Bartley and Owen Fask. After a scoreless third period and a tense extra session where neither side could find the back of the net, the game moved to a decisive shootout. St. Cloud’s Dante Rodriguez proved to be the difference-maker, burying the game-winning opportunity to seal the victory for the home team. The goaltending on both sides was exceptional, with Watertown’s JJ Salajko turning away 31 shots in the loss. For the Norsemen, Beck Liden put up a stellar performance between the pipes, recording 34 saves to protect the crease and secure the 3-2 win for his squad. For St. Cloud now notches their 18th win of the season, while Watertown drops their 19th loss of the season.

Bismarck 5 @ North Iowa 4 (OT) - The Bismarck Bobcats displayed grit on the road Friday night, battling through a thriller to secure a 5-4 overtime victory against the North Iowa Bulls. Bismarck set the tone early in the first period when Royce Pietila opened the scoring behind assists from Nick Snyder and Charlie Kresl. The Bulls found an answer halfway through the frame as Denis Kuzmenkov buried a chance following setups from Vitaliy Korolyuk and Filip Rysz, but Caden Bell regained the lead for the Bobcats before the intermission with help from Eddie Revenig and Dennis Lominac. The second period continued this back-and-forth as Nick Snyder extended the Bismarck advantage with a goal assisted by Mark Evans and Oscar Jonsson. Yet, North Iowa stayed. within striking distance thanks to a Michael Malatino tally set up by Brody Dietz and Denis Hodas. The drama intensified in the third as the Bulls tied it back up, with Brody Dietz and Ivan Berčík finding the back of the net. Yet, Charlie Kresl scored for Bismarck to grab the lead again late off the assist from Hugo Kruse. Ivan Bercik found magic late for the Bulls off the assists from Michael Malitio and Brody Dietz, forcing the game into the extra session tied at four. In overtime, the Bobcats delivered. As Nick Snyder played the hero, firing home his second of the night off feeds from Eddie Revenig and Charlie Kresl to clinch the win. While Bismarck celebrates their 34-win season, the hard-fought result serves as the 22nd loss of the campaign for the North Iowa Bulls.

Oklahoma 4 @ Amarillo 5 (SO) - AJ Iwinski opened the scoring for Oklahoma at 13:26 in the first period. Several minutes later, Jake Boulanger stole the puck from a Warrior and ripped it past Billy Stuski. During the second, more scoring continued for the Wranglers, as Cru Smith quickly got it started by burying one off another turnover. Minutes later, Boulanger grabbed another one after getting set up by Tiernan O'Rourke. Then moments later, the Warriors responded when Trace Day punched one in empty-handed. And they would do so again, with Joey Derosa lighting the lamp before the buzzer sounded. Six minutes into the third, Boulanger scored his natural hat trick when Danylo Dolin set him up. Then, minutes later, Derosa picked up another to tie the score and force overtime. Overtime would ultimately usher in a shootout, though. The Warriors had three contestants shoot on Casmir Weckstrom, all being saved by the netminder. The Wranglers, however, had Alfons Jentler save the day for the team by being the one to bury one on Billy Stuski.

Springfield 2 @ Wisconsin 3 (SO) - Late into the first period, Brady Turner opened the scoring for the Blues from a snap shot in. Then, quickly in the second, Josh Sardo responded for the Windigo, burying the rebound from Riley Joslin. But fast forward four minutes later, Niko Laus would tuck one in and break the tie. Likewise, with a minute left in the frame, McCarthy Richardson would blast one in from a nifty play from Thomas Quast. From the third period, the goaltenders from both clubs defended their nets to usher in overtime and ultimately a shootout. During the shootout, Drew Berres would score over the other two shooters for St. Louis. Meanwhile, Riley Joslin and Jackson Ernst would both score on Amir Valiullin to win it for Wisconsin.

Chippewa 3 @ Minnesota W 1 - The Steel would travel to Cloquet, Minnesota, the home of the Wilderness, for Friday night’s matchup. With a close game the previous night, the rematch was set to be a competitive one. The Wilderness would strike first on the power play with a goal by Zach Homer, assisted by Noah Dziver and Avery Anderson, 1-0. The Steel would finally break through with a response goal by Nate Hart, assisted by Henry Hlinka and Boone Kindseth, with just over a minute left in the first. The teams would be tied at one going into the first intermission. The second period had up-and-down action, but neither team would be able to score. In the third, the Steel would add to their lead four minutes in on a goal by Carter Seto, his third of the season. He was assisted by Jake McIntosh. Just two minutes later, Mason Johnson would stuff a rebound in for the 3-0 lead, assisted by Austin Boyce and Matteo Bertrand. Despite a flurry of chances for the Wilderness in the last five minutes, the Steel would get their revenge and skate away with the 3-1 victory. Steel netminder, Zach Stahl, would post a 0.971 save percentage, saving 33 of 34 shots on goal.

Shreveport 2 @ Odessa 1 - 27 minutes into the game, Owen Case lit the lamp first for the Mudbugs. Then, minutes later, Jeremy Jacobs sauced Nic Arrington to put one in the back of the net. All tied up, it took some time for a tiebreaker to occur. But past the three-minute mark, Jonah Jasser set up Chase Secriskey to one-time the biscuit in on the power play to break the tie and seal the deal for Shreveport.

Corpus Christi 0 @ Lone Star 4 - The Corpus Christi Ice Rays traveled to the Lone Star Brahmas for a Friday night matchup. The Brahmas would strike first, five minutes into the first on a goal by Dylan McFadden, assisted by Jackson Vaites, 1-0. Just a minute later, the Brahmas would extend their lead to two with Tyson Scanlon finding the back of the net. Assisted by Christian Venticinque and Liam O’Keeffe. With just a minute left in the first, the Brahmas would strike again, 3-0. Denver Damphousse would find nylon, assisted by Jake Tavares and Gustav Lexell. In the second, there were ups and downs for both teams, but neither found the net. In a physical third, the Brahmas would add one more goal by Tyson Scanlon, assisted by Jackson Vaites and Vladimir Saibel. The Brahmas would secure the 4-0 win against the Ice Rays. Brahmas goaltender Leo Gabriel would secure the shutout, turning aside 18 shots.

Austin 3 @ Minot 0 - The Austin Bruins paid a visit to the Minot Minotauros in North Dakota this weekend. Friday night’s game was a physical and tightly contested matchup. The first period would be full of up and down action, but neither team was able to cash in. In the second, the Bruins would break through with just under ten minutes left. Zander Lipsett would pot his 14th goal of the season, assisted by Nathan Williams and Gus Elbert,1-0. In the third, Lipsett would extend the lead for the Bruins 2-0 just 30 seconds in. He was assisted by Bobby Williams and EJ Paddington. Michael Coleman would strike on the power play for the Bruins just five minutes later, assisted by Ryan Lund and Kyle Sorensen. The Bruins would weather a physical final push from the home Tauros, but would skate away with this one 3-0. Minotauros goaltender Brian Cooke would stand tall despite the loss, turning away 40 of 43 shots for a 0.93 save percentage and earning the game’s first star honors. Bruins goaltender Jack Solomon would be credited with the shutout, turning away all 31 shots. The two teams have a rematch on Saturday night.

New Mexico 0 @ El Paso 4 - The New Mexico Ice Wolves visited the El Paso Rhinos for a Friday night matchup. In the first, the Rhinos would find nylon eight minutes into the period on a goal by Troy Hunka, assisted by Ian Kastamo and Ethan Woolcott. In the second, Massimiliano Monson would add another for the Rhinos, assisted by Tommy Shore and Aidan Bergner, 2-0. The Rhinos would not let up, as they would extend their lead 3-0 on the power play by Gaige Giblin, assisted by Shore and goaltender Michael Modelski. In the third, just two minutes in, Kamden Kaiser would score a short-handed goal. He was assisted by Giblin and Daigo Hotta. The Rhinos would take the 4-0 win over the New Mexico Ice Wolves. Rhinos goaltender Modelski would be credited with the shutout.

Kenai River 5 @ Anchorage 8 - A scoring frenzy went down at the Sullivan Arena as the Anchorage Wolverines hosted an in-state rival, the Kenai River Brown Bears. The contest kicked off with both teams striking on the power play. Anchorage found the back of the net first thank to Balint Lobenwein. Later in the frame, the Brown Bears evened the score thanks to Parker Newman. The second frame featured five goals being scored between the two teams. Kenai River tallied two of them, first thanks to Anthony McIntosh at the 10:38 minute mark. Following him two minutes later, Carter McCormick found twine on the man advantage to give the Brown Bears the 3-1 advantage. However, the Wolverines would respond with a trio of goals in the second period. The Long Island commit, Luc Bydal, scored two on the power play to even the scoreboard. Following him in the final minutes of the frame, Alaskan native Aiden Lawson scores his first of the season. Heading into the third period, the Wolverines looked to hold onto their advantage on the scoresheet. The scoring picked up with Leon Buzek from Anchorage scoring on the man advantage six minutes into the period. Three minutes later, Joe Gillespie found twine for the Brown Bears to keep the game as a one-goal differential. However, the Wolverines were looking to extend their lead. Anchorage would score a trio of goals again, with Bydal first scoring his hat-trick goal at the 6:14 minute mark. Following him 20 seconds later was Cale Quamme, adding to the lead. The final Anchorage goal of the night would come from Lawson on the man advantage for his hometown crowd. The final goal of the night would be Kenai River’s Samuel Sisik as he delivered a tally with 1:38 to spare on the clock. The Wolverines would skate to an 8-5 victory and a push for playoff positioning.

Janesville 1 @ Fairbanks 3 - In a battle at the Big Dipper, the Fairbanks Ice Dogs hosted the Janesville Jets for a Friday night contest. The game kicked off with a tally midway through the opening frame by Kyle Rohrer on the power play. The scoring continued two minutes later with a goal by Gage Leonard, to give the Ice Dogs the 2-0 lead. As the contest was pushed into the second frame, the Ice Dogs scored their third tally of the night, this time by Harrison Kaszubowski. Fairbanks would skate into the final frame with a 3-0 advantage. In the third period, Janesville’s captain, Joseph Hyten, scores for the Jets. However, that third-period push would end there. The Ice Dogs would skate to a 3-1 victory on home ice. Between the pipes, Miles Roberts turned aside 32 out of 33 shots on net to secure an Ice Dogs win.
