Rochester Forward Powell makes NCAA DI Commitment

The Rochester Jr. Americans of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are proud to announce that forward Konner Powell has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for Mercyhurst University in the Atlantic.

The 18-year-old from the Hoosier State, Powell, has featured a strong rookie season with the Jr. Americans. The 5-foot-9 righty has laced up for the Rochester program in 41 games. He has tallied 15 goals while making nine assists in that span. Six of his goals were scored on the man advantage, while one was named the decider in a contest. The ‘07 skater has been recognized as an East Division Star of the Week once this season. On his roster, Powell ranks second on his team with his six power-play goals this season.

Powell shares his excitement to announce his commitment to the Pennsylvania-based program.

“I am very proud and honored to announce my commitment to play Division I hockey at Mercyhurst University. I’d like to thank my family, friends, coaches, teammates, advisors, and everyone else who has helped me along the way.”

Powell is one of seven members of the Rochester Jr. Americans to make a Division I hockey college commitment.
