NAHL and NA3HL Alumnus, Lucas Wahlin, Signs NHL Contract with the Winnipeg Jets

The Winnipeg Jets announced today that former Kenai River Brown Bears skater, Lucas Wahlin, has signed a one-year entry-level NHL contract beginning for the 2026-27 season. The former Brown Bear will head to the Manitoba Moose of the American Hockey League (AHL) for the remainder of the 2025-26 season.

Wahlin just finished his senior season with the St. Thomas Tommies, skating in 137 college games. The fourth-year forward has been a captain of the Tommies in his last three seasons. The 6-foot righty is the top goal scorer on his roster this season, tallying 21 goals while making 18 assists. His offensive skill set ranks him second on his roster, with 39 points on the year. This year, the Minnesota native was named the CCHA Defensive Forward of the Year and to the All-CCHA First Team. In Wahlin’s college career, the 24-year-old scored 56 goals while producing 75 assists with the Tommies.

Before playing collegiately, Wahlin played with the Kenai River Brown Bears during the 2020-21 campaign. With the Midwest Division team, Wahlin played 44 games, tallying 19 goals while making eight assists with the Brown Bears. His offensive prowess ranked him tied first on his team and earned him a spot as a Top Prospect for the Midwest Division team at the 2021 Top Prospects Tournament.

Prior to playing in the NAHL, he spent a season in the NA3HL with the North Iowa Bulls, where he served as their top goal scorer. The forward from the State of Hockey hit the ice in 38 games with the Bulls, spotlighting 59 points. The Minnesota skater was named as a Top Prospect for the 2020 Top Prospects Tournament thanks to his offensive skillset on the ice. Wahlin earned callups to the Kenai River Brown Bears and Jamestown Rebels during his rookie campaign. His domination of the ice earned him recognition as the NA3HL’s Rookie of the Year for the 2019-20 season. In addition to that award, he was named to the All-NA3HL First Team and All-NA3HL Rookie First Team.
