NAHL Alumnus, Hayes Hundley, Signs NHL Contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs

The Toronto Maple Leafs announced today that former Johnstown Tomahawks skater, Hayes Hundley, has signed a three-year entry-level NHL contract beginning for the 2026-27 season. The former Tomahawk  will head to the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League (AHL) for the remainder of the 2025-26 season.

Hailing from the Buckeye State, Hundley just wrapped up his freshman season with the St. Thomas Tommies. The 6-foot-3 defenseman played in 38 games, tallying six goals while making six assists for the Tommies. The 21-year-old made an impact from the blue line in his first collegiate season, being named to the CCHA All-Rookie Team.

Before playing collegiately, Hundley spent a season playing in the League of Opportunity with Johnstown in the East Division. His rapid ascension in hockey started with a tender to the Tomahawks. During his campaign in the 2023-24 season, he played a total of 55 games. He found the back of the net three times and produced eight assists with the Tomahawks in his rookie season.
