Tuesday Thriller: The Aviators Fly Away to a 6-1 Victory

Elmira 6 @ Philadelphia 1 - The Elmira Aviators clobbered the Philly Rebels on the road during Wednesday afternoon's session. From the first period, the Aviators were an offensive powerhouse, scoring four times. Cody Powels opened the scoring for them by tipping in an initial shot from the point by Harald Humble. A minute later, Evan Dantas would dangle through Philly's defensive pair and bury one. Fast forward three minutes, and Powels would grab another one by tucking in a cross-ice feed created by Nico-Patrick Pohjola. At 5:52, right off the faceoff, Jake Baratta would shovel the biscuit in on the blue paint's doorstep to make it four-nothing. Shortly after, the Rebels went on the power play. Billy Sheridan would create a close-to-crease situation during that run, as the puck would pinball in from Ryan Bunting’s effort to finally break the ice for Philly. In the second, neither team saw any scoring action, but that doesn't suggest that Philly didn't see any action in Elmira's zone. Aiden McKenna would stop 13 grade-A chances on his net to keep the game 4-1. In the third, though, his team bounced right back and scored a pair before calling it a night. Baratta would sneak one by to collect his second of the day, followed by Corson Maguire to seal the deal in Philadelphia.
