Minnesota Mallards Forward Berg makes NCAA Commitment

The Minnesota Mallards of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are proud to announce that forward Wes Berg has committed to play NCAA hockey for Bethel University in the MIAC.

The 5-foot-9 forward from the State of Hockey, Berg, will return to his hometown of Blaine, Minnesota, to skate for the Royals in the fall. The ‘05 skater is a third-year NAHL veteran, playing 146 games in the League of Opportunity. This past season, the future Royal has skated in 46 games with the Mallards. Berg has tallied eight goals while making 14 assists for the Minnesota club. Thanks to his work on the ice, the Minnesota native got the opportunity to lace up for the 2025 Top Prospects Tournament with the Central Division roster this season.

Prior to playing with the Mallards, he played five games with the Kenai River Brown Bears at the start of the season. The team he skated with the season prior. During his 2024-25 campaign, Berg started his season with the St. Cloud Norsemen. He hit the ice in 17 games with the Minnesota roster, finding twine three times, while notching five assists. Following his time with the Norsemen, he was acquired by the Brown Bears. Berg laced up in 20 games with the Midwest Division teams, scoring five goals while making nine assists for the team.

In his rookie season, the 5-foot-9 lefty played for the St. Cloud Norsemen in 51 contests. He tallied six goals while making 10 assists for the Minnesota team. Two of his tallies were named the decider, while two goals were scored on the man advantage.

He got his first taste of the League of Opportunity during his senior season of high school hockey. He played seven games with St. Cloud during the 2022-23 campaign.

Prior to playing in the NAHL, Berg won a Minnesota High School Class A hockey championship with Gentry Academy in 2021.

Berg is one of nine members of the Minnesota Mallards to make a college ice hockey commitment.
