Anchorage Forward Bydal makes NCAA DI Commitment

The Anchorage Wolverines of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are proud to announce that forward Rylan Bydal has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for Long Island University.

The 5-foot-10 forward from the hockey-rich community of Grand Forks, North Dakota, Rylan Bydal, has made a commitment to the Long Island Sharks program. Bydal is a first-year skater for the Wolverines. This season, the ‘07 rookie has played 57 regular season games, tallying 16 goals and 37 assists with Anchorage. His offensive prowess ranks him third overall on his team with 53 total points and 37 assists. His goal-scoring this season has come at crucial moments, with four of his goals being named game-winners. Bydal in addition is able to convert on the man advantage, scoring four of his goals on the power play. 

His work on the ice this season was recognized and the 5-foot-10 righty was named as a Top Prospect for the 2026 Top Prospects Tournament on the Selects White roster. He was a member of one of the two NAHL teams to defeat the U.S. National Team Development Program at the annual event.
This season, the North Dakota native is not the only Bydal to be lacing up for the Wolverines. The rookie has played alongside his older brother, Luc Bydal, all season long. The two have been linemates and offensively tore it up on the scoresheet  night after night for Anchorage. Their “Bydal Connection” will not end in their junior days. Younger brother, Rylan, will join his older brother at Long Island in a few years. 

Bydal went into detail on his excitement to commit to the Sharks program.

“I am very proud to announce my commitment to play Division I hockey and further my education at Long Island University. I would like to thank God, my teammates, coaches, friends, and advisors for all of their help along the way. But most importantly, I would like to thank my family for the endless support and sacrifice. Looking forward to what’s ahead.”

Head coach of the Wolverines, Mike Aikens, shares why this commitment was a great next step.

“LIU is getting a great player. Rylan has great hockey sense and is ultra competitive. It will be great to see the Bydal connection continue in college.”

Bydal is one of eight members of the Anchorage Wolverines to make a Division I hockey college commitment.
