NAHL Alumnus, Arsenii Sergeev, Makes NHL Debut with the Calgary Flames

The Calgary Flames announced on Thursday, April 16, 2026, that former New Jersey Titan and Shreveport Mudbugs netminder, Arsenii Sergeev, was called up to the Calgary Flames to make his NHL debut. The former NAHL goaltender has spent this season playing for the Calgary Wranglers in the American Hockey League (AHL) and the Rapid City Rush in the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL).

The 23-year-old from Russia, Sergeev, spent two seasons in the League of Opportunity playing in the East and South Divisions. He started his NAHL career with the New Jersey Titans, playing in net for 15 games. He featured a 3.56 goals-against average and .892 save percentage during the 2019-20 season. The following season, Sergeev was acquired by the Shreveport Mudbugs in the South Division. He played in the blue paint in 20 games for the Mudbugs, spotlighting a 2.17 goals-against average and .936 save percentage.  Sergeev ranked third in the NAHL with his goals-against average and second with his save percentage during the 2020-21 campaign. With his work in net, he helped the Mudbugs take home the 2021 Robertson Cup.

In the summer of 2021, Sergeev made his Division I commitment following his season of playing in the League of Opportunity. In addition to making his commitment, the 6-foot-3 goaltender was drafted that summer in the NHL Draft in the seventh round, 205th overall, by the Calgary Flames. He played three seasons of collegiate hockey before getting the call to play professionally.

In his NHL debut, the 23-year-old spotlighted his first career win, stopping 27 out of 28 shots on net by the Los Angeles Kings. He featured a 1.00 goals-against average and a .964 save percentage from the lone game. Sergeev became the first Flames goaltender to make a debut in the ECHL, AHL, and NHL all in one year. In addition to playing at all three levels, the former NAHL goaltender earned a win in each start.
