In the final 20 minutes of regulation, Harrison Smith would even the score off of a feed by Tanner Duncan midway through the frame. With the score tied, the contest would be forced into overtime, where Brand Anes lit the lamp to secure his team the championship. In net for the Black Bears, Ryan Denes turned aside 38 out of 40 shots, securing his fourth overtime win in net.
