Corpus Christi forward Maruna makes NCAA Commitment

The Corpus Christi IceRays of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are pleased to announce that forward Johnny Maruna has committed to playing NCAA Division III hockey for Norwich University. 

“I’m excited to join Norwich University for the storied military and academic tradition, along with a high-level hockey program. Thank you to everyone who helped me along the way,” said Maruna.

Maruna, 20, just completed his second year of junior hockey and his first with the IceRays organization. In the 2024-25 season, the Euclid, Ohio native got his first taste of hockey in the NAHL, playing two games for the New Hampshire Mountain Kings. This season, Maruna suited up for 41 games with Corpus Christi, logging 36 points (14 goals, 22 assists) in those games. 

The month of January was Maruna’s best. From December 27th to January 30th, he tallied at least a point in 10 of his 11 games played. In that span, Maruna logged eight goals and ten assists, earning a South Division Third Star of the Week in the week ending January 26th, 2026. 

“Johnny had a tremendous impact for us this season,” said IceRays Head Coach Ryan Gil. “He was producing at a high level every night and leading our offense before his injury. We’re proud of the way he competed and developed, and we’re excited to see him continue his career at Norwich.”

Maruna joins a growing group of players from the 2025-26 IceRays roster committed to playing NCAA hockey, bringing Corpus Christi’s total to five players.
