Springfield defenseman Opgrand makes NCAA Commitment
The Springfield Jr. Blues of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are pleased to announce that defenseman Logan Opgrand has committed to playing NCAA Division III hockey for St. John's University.
Opgrand, 21, just completed his third and final season of junior hockey, all played with the Jr. Blues organization. The Eagan, Minnesota, native began playing in the NAHL in the 2023-24 season, appearing in 26 games. He stayed with Springfield for the following two seasons, with this season being his best offensively from the blue line. Over the course of 43 regular-season games this season, Logan found the back of the net three times, and he dished out five assists. Over the course of his NAHL career, Opgrand played 127 regular-season games and logged 19 points (5 goals, 14 assists).
Opgrand joins a growing group of players from the 2025-26 Jr. Blues roster committed to playing NCAA hockey, bringing the total to seven players.
