Minnesota Mallards Defenseman Christman Makes NCAA Commitment

May 23, 2026

The Minnesota Mallards of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are proud to announce that defenseman Matthew Christman has committed to play NCAA hockey for Trine University in the NCHA.

Hailing from the Keystone State, Christman is heading to Angola, Indiana, to skate for the Thunder in the fall. The 6-foot-6 blueliner is a first-year skater in the NAHL. This season, the 21-year-old laced up in 54 games for the Mallards, registering six points for the Minnesota team. He scored one goal while making five assists. His lone tally was named the decider in a contest.

The Trine University Thunder have recently made an appearance in the postseason, punching their ticket in 2025.

Christman is one of 10 members of the Minnesota Mallards to make a college ice hockey commitment.
