Corpus Christi Forward Watson makes NCAA Commitment

The Corpus Christi IceRays of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are proud to announce that forward Colin Watson has committed to play NCAA hockey for Chatham University in the UCHC.

The 21-year-old from Whitehouse Station, New Jersey, Watson will head to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to play with the Cougars in the fall. Watson is a second-year veteran of the NAHL. He started his junior career with the Corpus Christi IceRays in the 2024-25 season. The 6-foot-4 righty laced up in 59 games for the South Division team, registering six goals and 16 assists for Corpus Christi. One of his tallies was named the decider in a contest. Moving into his second season, he started his year with the Rochester Jr. Americans in the East Division. He played 13 games with the Jr. Amerks, notching three points with the team. He was then acquired by Corpus Christi to end the year. He played in 15 games for the IceRays, delivering three goals and one assist with the South Division club.

Watson shares his excitement about joining the program in the fall.

“I’m excited and honored to commit to Chatham University. I want to thank my coaches, teammates, and family for their support throughout this process. Corpus Christi has been a huge part of my development, and I’m grateful for everything the organization has done for me.”

Ryan Gil of the IceRays explains why Watson is deserving of this opportunity.

“Colin has earned this opportunity through his dedication and consistency. He’s the type of player every team needs: dependable in all situations and committed to getting better every day. Chatham is getting a great player and an even better person.”

Watson is one of seven members of the Corpus Christi IceRays to make a college ice hockey commitment.
