Watertown Goaltender Salajko makes NCAA DI Commitment

The Watertown Shamrocks of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are proud to announce that goaltender JJ Salajko has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for Michigan State University in the Big Ten.

The 19-year-old from Columbus, Ohio, Salajko has secured a commitment with the Michigan State Spartans. Salajko is a first-year netminder for the Shamrocks. He joined the team in late November. The ‘06 goalie played between the pipes in 16 games, notching six wins for the Shamrocks. He sported a .886 in that span.

Salajko shares why the program was an easy yes.

“I knew it was something I couldn’t turn down. They checked every box for me. Strong academics, high-level hockey, and a coaching staff that I trust to not only develop me on the ice, but off the ice as well.”

Head coach and general manager of the Shamrocks, Casey Kirley, dives into detail on what stands out about Salajko’s work ethic.

“JJ did a great job for us this season. He is very detailed in his preparation and approach to the game. He showed up to the rink ready to work every day, and it’s good to see that he’s being rewarded for his efforts with a commitment to Michigan State.”

Salajko is one of six members of the Watertown Shamrocks to make a Division I hockey college commitment.
