Aberdeen Defenseman Ciaramitaro makes NCAA Commitment

The Aberdeen Wings of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are proud to announce that defenseman Anthony Ciaramitaro has committed to play NCAA hockey for SUNY Cortland in the SUNYAC.

The 5-foot-10 lefty from Windsor, Ontario, Canada, Ciaramitaro, will join the Red Dragons in the fall. The ‘05 blueliner just wrapped up his final season of junior hockey. The 21-year-old played in 66 games with Aberdeen between the regular season and postseason. During regular season play, Ciaramitaro scored six goals and made eight assists from the blue line. He registered 14 points and notched a +19 rating in the span of 56 regular season games.

Ciaramitaro shares what he is looking forward to once he hits the college ice.

“I am excited and honored to announce my commitment to further my education and to play Division III Hockey at SUNY Cortland. I would like to thank my family, friends, coaches, and teammates who helped me along the way.”

In the postseason, the defenseman was a force for the Wings. The 5-foot-10 skater tallied two goals and made four assists in 10 contests played. Ciaramitaro was named with the Aberdeen Wings’ Hard Hat Award. This honor is given to the player who works on not only bettering himself, but also other players as well. In addition, the award recognizes a player who stands up for his teammates on the ice.

Head Coach and General Manager Scott Langer states what value the first-year NAHL skater brought to Aberdeen.

“Anthony was brought in here to add valuable experience and leadership, and he has delivered on that every day. He is one of the best teammates I have seen. Cortland is getting a player that will raise their culture.”

Ciaramitaro is one of nine members of the Aberdeen Wings to make a college ice hockey commitment.
