NAHL names Britton Lund as the next Kim Cannon Intern

The North American Hockey League (NAHL) is pleased to announce that Britton Lund has been selected as the next recipient of the Kim Cannon Internship. She will begin her duties in the NAHL office on August 3, 2026. 

The Kim Cannon Internship was established back on June 2, 2021, by the NAHL, in cooperation with Tampa Bay Lightning Head Coach and former NAHL head coach Jon Cooper. The internship was designed for a recent college graduate interested in pursuing a career in sports. Lund will be the sixth recipient of the Kim Cannon Internship.

The internship is named for a former employee of an NAHL team, Kim Cannon. Back on September 9, 2020, Cannon was involved in an automobile accident that tragically took her life at the age of 35. Cannon’s legacy of dedication, passion, and drive while working with a team in the NAHL is what inspired the creation of this internship.

“I am honored and grateful to be named this season’s Kim Cannon Intern with the North American Hockey League. This opportunity means so much to me because it allows me to begin my career in hockey while also carrying forward the legacy of someone who made such a positive impact on those around her,” stated Lund. “The NAHL is known as the ‘League of Opportunity,’ and I am incredibly thankful for the opportunity it is providing me to learn, grow, and develop within the sport.”

Lund went on to explain her excitement about joining the league.

“I am excited to learn from the talented people within the NAHL, contribute to the league's continued success, and grow both personally and professionally throughout this experience. I look forward to representing the values that Kim embodied and making the most of this incredible opportunity.”

Lund is a 2026 graduate of the University of Minnesota, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Sports Management, with minors in Statistics and Business Law. The recent graduate has experience in stadium management and coordination through her work with the Huntington (TCU) Bank Stadium. In addition, she served as a Data Analytics Intern with ALG Hockey this past season. The Minnesota native grew up going to the NAHL Showcase and the Robertson Cup and knows the League of Opportunity well.

“The Kim Cannon Internship continues to provide young professionals an opportunity in the sports business world,” said NAHL Commissioner and President Mark Frankenfeld. “This year’s finalists did not disappoint and made the choice very difficult. In the end, we felt Britton was the best fit for this upcoming season’s internship, and we look forward to having her be a part of our NAHL family.”
