Amarillo Defenseman Hedquist makes NCAA Commitment
The Amarillo Wranglers of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are proud to announce that defenseman Hayden Hedquist has committed to play NCAA hockey for St. Mary’s University in the MIAC.
The 6-foot-4 blueliner from the State of Hockey, Hedquist, will play in his home state with the Cardinals in the fall. Hedquist is a second-year veteran of the Wranglers, skating over 100 games with the South Division team. This season, the 20-year-old played in 54 contests for the Wranglers, notching 15 points from the blue line. The ‘06 skater scored three goals and made 12 assists in that span, ranking second on his roster amongst defensemen in scoring.
His rookie season, the Heron Lake, Minnesota skater played 47 games for Amarillo. He notched six assists in his debut year. The future Cardinal played 101 career games with the Wranglers, producing 21 points in his junior career.
Hedquist is the fifth member of the Amarillo Wranglers to make a college ice hockey commitment this season.
