Rochester Goaltender Wade makes NCAA Commitment

The Rochester Jr. Americans of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are proud to announce that goaltender Florian Wade has committed to play NCAA hockey for Hobart College in the SUNYAC.

The 6-foot-4 netminder from the Land of the Midnight Sun, Wade will head to the three-time National Champions, the Hobart College Statesmen, in the fall. Wade is a third-year veteran of the Rochester Jr. Americans, playing in net in 84 career games in the red, white, and blue. This past season, the ‘05 goaltender was in the blue paint in 26 regular season games. He registered a .914 save percentage and a 2.39 goals-against average.. He recorded two shutout performances in December. Wade’s first shutout was a 30-save night against the New Jersey Titans. Two weeks later, he stopped all 29 shots against the Danbury Hat Tricks to earn the win.

His work between the pipes helped to lift the Jr. Americans to a postseason run. In his nine games in net for Rochester, he notched a .919 save percentage and a 2.88 goals-against average. One of his four postseason wins was in shutout fashion against the Northeast Generals with a 30-save night.

During Wade’s 2024-25 campaign, the Anchorage, Alaska, native played in net for the Jr. Americans in 16 games. The ‘05 netminder recorded six wins, a 2.99 goals-against average, and an .884 save percentage.

The future Statesman played in the crease for the Jr. Americans in 33 games during his rookie season. Wade featured 15 wins and sported a 2.93 goals-against average and .893 save percentage during the 2023-24 season. Prior to playing his first full season of junior hockey, Wade got a taste of the League of Opportunity with a one-game call-up to the Aberdeen Wings. He stopped 19 out of 23 shots, earning his first junior win in the 2022-23 season.

The Hobart College Statesmen have become a powerhouse in college hockey. The program has made 10-straight postseason appearances since 2016, winning three back-to-back national championship titles from 2023 to 2025.

Wade is one of 16 members of the Rochester Jr. Americans to make a college ice hockey commitment.
