Janesville Alternate Captain Marvin-Cordes makes NCAA Commitment
The Janesville Jets of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are proud to announce that forward Murray Marvin-Cordes has committed to play NCAA hockey for Gustavus Adolphus College in the MIAC.
The 5-foot-8 righty from the State of Hockey, Marvin-Cordes, will play for the Golden Gusties in his home state this upcoming fall. Marvin-Cordes is a third-year veteran of the NAHL, skating 129 games in the League of Opportunity. This past season, the ‘05 forward laced up in every regular season contest for the Jets. He recorded nine goals and made 35 assists for the Midwest Division team. On his roster, the Warroad, Minnesota, native ranked third with 44 points on the season. Two of his tallies were notched on the man advantage, and two were deciders in contests. In addition to his offensive prowess on the ice, the alternate captain was one of the top skaters with his plus-minus rating. He featured a +17 on the season, ranking second on the Janesville roster.
Thanks to his work on the ice, Marvin-Cordes was named one of the top uncommitted athletes that the NAHL had to offer. The Minnesota native skated for the Midwest Division team during the two-day event, and he recorded an assist at the USA Hockey Arena.
Moving into his 2024-25 campaign, Marvin-Cordes started his year with the Minot Minotauros in the Central Division. He laced up for 27 games, logging 11 points for the Tauros. He lit the lamp twice and produced nine assists for the North Dakota team. Following his time with Minot, the ‘05 skater was acquired by the Jets, where he played 27 games for the Wisconsin-based team. As a Jet, Marvin-Cordes found the back of the net five times and recorded five assists. One of his tallies was scored in short-handed fashion with Janesville.
The Warroad, Minnesota, native got his first taste of the League of Opportunity in the 2023-24 season following his high school season with Warroad. He played 16 games in a Tauros sweater, registering five points. Marvin-Cordes got a taste of the postseason with Minot and played at the Robertson Cup as the Minotauros made their postseason run. In that span, he found twine three times while producing two assists for Minot.
The ‘05 forward joins a college program that has seen continued success over the last two decades. The Golden Gusties have made 16 NCAA tournament appearances since 2002.
Marvin-Cordes is one of nine members of the Janesville Jets to make a college ice hockey commitment.
