Watertown Forward Struck makes NCAA Commitment

The Watertown Shamrocks of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are proud to announce that forward Payton Struck has committed to play NCAA hockey for Saint John’s University in the MIAC.

The 6-foot-2 righty from Rogers, Minnesota, Struck will join the Johnnies in Collegeville, Minnesota, in the fall. Struck is a second-year veteran of the League of Opportunity. This past season, he skated in every regular season and postseason contest for the Shamrocks. In the regular season, the 21-year-old laced up in 59 games, logging 27 points for the Central Division team. He scored nine goals and made 18 assists for Watertown in his age-out season. Struck scored two of his tallies on the man advantage while one goal was notched short-handed.

In the postseason, the skater from Minnesota logged two points in three games played. He scored a goal and made an assist for the Shamrocks.

Prior to joining the Central Division team, Struck spent a season playing in the Midwest Division with the Minnesota Wilderness. The State of Hockey native played 49 games with the Wilderness, registering 28 points for the Shamrocks. The ‘05 forward lit the lamp six times while recording 22 assists for the Wilderness. Struck scored one goal in game-winning fashion and found twine once short-handed.

The Saint John’s University Johnnies are coming off an NCAA tournament appearance after being named the MIAC champion.

Struck is one of 12 members of the Watertown Shamrocks to make a college ice hockey commitment.
