Aberdeen Defenseman Anderson makes NCAA DI Commitment
The Aberdeen WIngs of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are proud to announce that defenseman Cooper Anderson has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for University of Alaska-Anchorage.
The 6-foot-4 blueliner from the State of Hockey, Anderson has committed to the Seawolves program in Anchorage, Alaska. Anderson is a second-year veteran of the Wings, skating 123 games in the red and black. This past season, he laced up in all but one regular season contest for Aberdeen. In 58 games played in the regular season, the ‘06 lefty scored 14 goals and made 36 assists for the South Dakota-based team. Anderson was one of the top-scoring defensemen in the NAHL, ranking in the top five in offensive production. The Elk River, Minnesota, player scored four game-winning goals and tallied five power-play goals during his regular season campaign. Additionally, Anderson showed up on the scoresheet in 37 contests this season for Aberdeen.
He was named to the All-Central Division Team and as a Central Division Star of the Week thanks to his work on the ice.
In the postseason, the 20-year-old was just as impactful, recording eight points in 10 games played. Anderson lit the lamp twice while registering six assists for the Wings.

The Minnesota native started his NAHL career in the 2024-25 season. The blueliner laced up in 55 games for the Wings, registering 19 points for the South Dakota-based team. He lit the lamp twice, while recording 17 assists for Aberdeen. In his rookie season, he recorded a +6 rating on the ice.
For his NAHL career, Anderson produced 77 points in 123 contests played. He has scored 18 goals while producing 59 assists over the two seasons for the Wings.
The 6-foot-4 defenseman is not the only Aberdeen skater committed to the Seawolves program. Matthew Martin will head to the University of Alaska-Anchorage this upcoming fall.
Anderson is one of eight members of the Aberdeen Wings to make a Division I hockey college commitment.
