Aberdeen Alternate Captain Kuhl makes NCAA Commitment

The Aberdeen Wings of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are proud to announce that forward Jibber Kuhl has committed to play NCAA hockey for Saint John’s University in the MIAC.

The 6-foot-2 forward from Wayzata, Minnesota, Kuhl will join the Johnnies in his home state this upcoming fall. Kuhl is a third-year veteran of the Wings, skating 165 games with the South Dakota team. The ‘05 lefty laced up in every regular season and postseason contest during the 2025-26 season. In 59 games played, Kuhl registered 50 points. The 20-year-old scored 22 goals while producing 28 assists in his age-out season. Two of his tallies were deciders in contests while six were scored on the man advantage. Kuhl was one of the top scorers on the Wings, showing up on the scoresheet in 34 regular season contests. His work on the ice earned him recognition during the season, earning Central Division Star of the Week honors on November 17, 2025.

The alternate captain also had the opportunity to head to the USA Hockey Arena as one of the selected Top Prospects for the annual Top Prospects Tournament. Kuhl represented the Central Division team and competed against some of the best uncommitted athletes that the NAHL has to offer.

In the postseason, the State of Hockey forward played in 10 games for the Wings, notching eight points for Aberdeen. He lit the lamp four times while recording four assists. One of his tallies was scored in game-winning fashion while one goal was tallied on the power play.

In the 6-foot-2 forward’s second season of junior hockey, Kuhl laced up in 49 contests for the Wings. The ‘05 skater logged a team-leading 53 points, scoring 18 goals while producing 35 assists. Four of his tallies were game-winning goals, ranking second on the Aberdeen roster in that category while two goals were notched on the man advantage. The Minnesota native recorded over a point per game in his 2024-25 campaign, leading the Wings in that offensive category as well.

In Kuhl’s debut season in the League of Opportunity, the Wayzata, Minnesota, skater played hit the ice in 47 games for the South Dakota team. He scored 13 goals and recorded 8 assists for Aberdeen, totaling 21 points in his rookie season. Kuhl was effective at critical points in the game, scoring five of his goals in game-winning fashion for the Wings in the 2023-24 season.

In Kuhl’s junior hockey career, he played exclusively for the Aberdeen Wings. His offensive skill set puts him in record books for the organization. He ranks third overall in career goals as a Wings skater and fifth overall with 119 points and 68 assists in the red and black.

Kuhl is one of ten members of the Aberdeen Wings to make a college ice hockey commitment.
