The Amarillo Wranglers of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are proud to announce that defenseman Michael Tarasenko has committed to play NCAA hockey for Saint John’s University in the MIAC.

The ‘05 blueliner from Germany, Tarasenko, will play for the Johnnies in the State of Hockey this upcoming fall. Tarasenko is a first-year skater in the League of Opportunity. The 6-foot-6 defenseman started his year with the Anchorage Wolverines in the Midwest Division. He recorded three points in eight games played. He scored his first NAHL goal and notched two assists.

Tarasenko would then be acquired by the Wranglers and would skate with the South Division team in 22 games. The 20-year-old recorded four assists with the Wranglers.

The Saint John’s University Johnnies are coming off an NCAA tournament appearance after being named the MIAC champion.

Tarasenko is one of seven members of the Amarillo Wranglers to make a college ice hockey commitment this season.
