Wisconsin Captain Georgaklis makes NCAA Commitment
The Wisconsin Windigo of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are proud to announce that forward Alexios Georgaklis has committed to play NCAA hockey for Connecticut College in the NESCAC.
The ‘05 skater from Rancho Santa Fe, California, Georgaklis will join the Camels at Connecticut College in the fall. Georgaklis is a third-year veteran of the League of Opportunity, skating the past two seasons with the Wisconsin Windigo. The captain was the only Windigo skater to play in every regular-season contest, appearing in all 59 games. He would tally a team-leading 17 goals and 30 assists in the regular season, boasting 47 points during his age-out campaign. The 6-foot-3 lefty was effective on the man advantage, scoring five power-play goals.
In addition to staying healthy and playing in every regular season contest, Georgaklis laced up in all 10 postseason games for the Midwest Division club. Georgaklis recorded six assists in the Windigo’s playoff push.
Thanks to his work on the ice during the regular season, Georgaklis was named a Top Prospect for the annual Top Prospects Tournament in February. The California native laced up for the Midwest Division team during the two-day event and scored a goal for his team.
The 6-foot-3 skater was just as offensively strong of a skater in his 2024-25 campaign. Georgaklis ranked fourth on his roster with 17 tallies while producing 27 assists for the Wisconsin-based team. The ‘05 forward was tied for fourth overall on the Windigo with 44 points in his second full season in the League of Opportunity. In addition to being one of the top scorers, he played a critical role in aiding the Windigo to their first Robertson Cup appearance as an organization and helped to clinch the Midwest Division title.
In his debut year in the NAHL, he started with the Minnesota Wilderness, skating in four games with the Midwest Division club. He would then be quickly acquired following the NAHL Showcase by the Danbury Hat Tricks in the 2023-24 season. He would go on to skate in 46 games with the Connecticut-based team, scoring nine goals while recording 16 assists.
In his NAHL career, Georgaklis skated in 185 games, logging 122 points across the three seasons. The 6-foot-3 forward tallied 43 goals and 79 assists during his tenure in the League of Opportunity.
Georgaklis is one of eight members of the Wisconsin Windigo to make a college ice hockey commitment.
