Former Blizzard forward Trupp makes NCAA DI commitment

The Alexandria Blizzard, formerly of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), are pleased to announce that forward Hayden Trupp has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for the University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) for the 2012-13 season. UAA is a member of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA).
Trupp, who is a native of Anchorage, Alaska, led the Blizzard this past season in assists with 30 and ranked 6th in points with 37 in 53 games played this past season for Alexandria.
Jeff Crouse, who served as Alexandria’s assistant coach this past season, said that he was happy to see another player get an NCAA Division I opportunity. “It is great to see a player’s hard work and determination payoff,” said Crouse. “Hayden was a player who you knew that you were going to get his best effort each and every night. He wasn’t the biggest player on the ice (5’9/160), but he played with a lot of grit and heart, and I am confident Hayden will succeed in Alaska.”
Trupp, 20, joined the Blizzard in mid-October and began the season on a seven-game point streak, which turned out to be his best stretch of the season. Hayden’s brother Evan Trupp plays professional hockey for the Bakersfield Condors of the ECHL.
