Maine defenseman Swift makes NCAA commitment

The Maine Nordiques of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) would like to proudly announce that defenseman Cooper Swift has committed to play NCAA Division III hockey for Hobart and William Smith College.
Swift, 21, spent his final season of junior hockey in the NAHL with the Nordiques and made an instant impact player on the blue line and in the locker room.
The 6’2/194 lbs. native of West Hartford, CT, appeared in 49 games during the 2020-21 regular season and recorded 24 points (4 goals, 20 assists). He also put up two assists in 10 playoff games.
“Cooper’s calm demeanor in the locker room and his great defensive stick allowed the Nordiques to rely heavily on him to make the big-time plays. Cooper is also a swift skater as well offensively and uses his fancy footwork to his advantage,” said Nordiques head coach Nolan Howe.
Prior to playing junior hockey, Swift played prep school hockey for Choate Rosemary Hall.
