New Mexico forward Gomez makes NCAA DI commitment

The New Mexico Ice Wolves of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are pleased to announce that forward Alex Gomez has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for the University of Alaska-Anchorage.
Gomez, 20, is currently in his third and final season playing junior hockey in the NAHL for New Mexico. The 6’4/185 lbs. native of Parker, CO, is currently tied for 3rd in team scoring so far this season with 14 points (5 goals, 9 assists) in 21 games played.
Over the course of his three-year NAHL career, Gomez has appeared in 115 career regular season games and recorded 42 points.
“I’m extremely excited for Alex. He’s a third-year guy who’s put in the work. He’s taken a step every season with us in his development as player. It is great to see your guys go through this process, stick with it, and reach their goals of NCAA Division I hockey,” said Ice Wolves head coach Phil Fox.
Prior to playing in the NAHL, Gomez played youth hockey for both the Colorado Thunderbirds and Colorado Rampage.
He played in the 2019 NAHL 18U Top Prospects Tournament for the Tier 1 Elite League West Team, where he had three points in four games played during the event.
