January 21, 2022

The Minnesota Magicians of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are pleased to announce that forward Gavin Best has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for Michigan State University in the B1G.

Best, 20, is in his second and final season playing junior hockey in the NAHL for the Magicians. The 6’2/180 lbs. native of Richfield, MN, is currently the Magicians lead scorer this season, putting up 38 points (14 goals, 24 assists) in 35 games played to date.

“I am proud to announce my commitment to further my education and play Division 1 Hockey for Michigan State University. I want to thank my family, friends and coaches for helping guide me along the way. Excited to be a Spartan! #gogreen,” said Best.

After playing three years of high school hockey in Minnesota for the Blake School, Best joined the Magicians for the 2020-21 season, where he recorded 16 points in 39 games played during his rookie season.

In 74 career NAHL games to date, Best has recorded 54 points.

He is the 6th player from the Magicians 2021-22 roster who has made an NCAA Division I commitment.
