Chippewa defenseman Frandina makes NCAA DI commitment

The Chippewa Steel of the North American Hockey League (NAHL are pleased to announce that defenseman Sam Frandina has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for St. Lawrence University in the ECAC.
Frandina, 17, is in his first season of playing junior hockey for the Steel in the NAHL. The 5’8/165 lbs. native of Hanover, NH, is having a solid rookie season to date with 15 points (2 goals, 13 assists) in 24 games played so far during the 2021-22 season.
“I’m extremely excited and proud to announce my commitment to further my academics and play Division I college hockey at St. Lawrence University. I would like to thank my family, coaches, and peers who have helped me along this journey. #gosaints,” said Frandina.
“We are unbelievably excited for Sam and his family. He is an outstanding player and even better young man. He has brought so much joy and energy to our group since joining us. We cannot wait to see what the futures holds for Sam,” said Steel head coach Casey Mignone.
Frandina began the season with the Oakland Jr. Grizzlies 18U team. Prior to that, he played the previous three seasons for the Nashville Jr. Predators and TPH Thunder.
