Schedule released for the 12th annual NAHL Showcase

July 17, 2014
The North American Hockey League (NAHL) has announced the game schedule for the 12th annual NAHL Showcase Tournament, which will be held from September 17-21, 2014 at the Schwan Super Rink in Blaine, Minnesota.  All 24 NAHL teams will play four regular-season games at the Showcase.

For scouting purposes, the NAHL Showcase is the premier event of its kind and is a yearly gathering for every NCAA program and NHL team as they get their first look at some of the best and brightest hockey talent North America has to offer. The NAHL Showcase Tournament annually attracts over 9,000 people in overall attendance, including a record number of 342 NHL, NCAA and junior scouts, who attended the 2013 NAHL Showcase last season. For more information on the NAHL Showcase including schedule, ticket prices, hotels, rental cars and arena information, visit nahl.com/showcase

In addition, all 48 NAHL Showcase games will be broadcast live through FASTHockey, the official broadcast provider of the NAHL.

“We are coming off a season in which the NAHL set a new record for NCAA commitments in a season, as well as, a record number of scouts attending our events, which includes the NAHL Showcase,” said NAHL Commissioner Mark Frankenfeld. “We believe that events like the NAHL Showcase continue to set the standard, providing all the players with unmatched exposure to the hundreds of scouts who will be in attendance. Every year we keep believing we can outdo ourselves and make things even better than the year prior, and the 2014 NAHL Showcase will be no exception. We look forward to a great five days of hockey."

The NAHL Showcase, which has evolved into one of hockey's most prominent and popular events of the entire season, will be played at The Schwan Super Rink, which is the largest ice arena of its kind in the world. The state-of-the-art facility, a $21 million project totaling over 300,000 square feet, features eight sheets of ice under one roof. With all its varied amenities and services, the Schwan Super Rink is absolutely unique in the world of ice sport facilities.

The event will also feature all 32 teams from the Tier I North American Prospects Hockey League (NAPHL), eight additional teams from the Upper Midwest High School Elite League (UMHSEL) and 12 teams from the Tier I High Performance Hockey League (HPHL). In addition, there will four at-large teams at the 16U level included in competition. In total, 80 teams will be at the event.

This marks the fourth straight Showcase in which the NAHL has partnered with the Upper Midwest High School Elite League.  At the Showcase, the Elite League will feature eight total teams. It also marks the third straight Showcase that the NAHL has partnered with the High Performance Hockey League. The partnerships between the NAHL and the Elite League and the HPHL further enhances the Showcase since all see numerous players commit to NCAA programs each season.
