Friday Finals: Boyd's big night paces Bruins comeback

Austin 7 @ MN Magicians 3 – The Bruins stayed hot and handed Minnesota their 10th straight loss in a 7-3 road win on Friday. It was the Magicians who got off to a hot start as they jumped out to a 3-0 lead with 1st period goals from Matt Colford and Kane Durment and a 2nd period goal from Lukas Laub. However, the Bruins stormed back with seven consecutive goals including four goals in the 2nd period from Trevor Boyd, Luke Dietsch, Liam Feeney and Alex Pettersson. Boyd added two more goals in the 3rd period to complete a hat-trick and Tony Uglem also scored to give Austin the 7-3 win. Dietsch ended up with five points on the night. Boxscore

Michigan 0 @ Keystone 3 – Alex Blankenburg stopped all 33 shots that came his way for his first shutout of the season as the Ice Miners blanked the Warriors, 3-0. Keystone scored a goal in each period, which would end up being enough. Taylor Fernandez continued his hot play with a goal in the 1st period, Tommy Horn added a 2nd period goal and Matt Jones added an empty-net goal in the 3rd period. Ryan Wischow made 33 saves in the loss for Michigan. Boxscore

Aberdeen 2 @ Bismarck 3 (SO) – Cullen Willox scored the game-tying goal in the 3rd period and then added the shootout winner, as the Bobcats came from behind to defeat the Aberdeen Wings, 3-2 on Friday. In an active 1st period, Tanner Okeson and Colin Raver scored for the Wings, while Alex Strand scored for Bismarck as Aberdeen had a one-goal edge after one period. After a scoreless 2nd period, Willox tied the game at 2-2 with a goal early in the 3rd period. In the shootout, all three Bobcats shooters scored including Logan Rivard, Evan Giesler and Willox. Alex Bitsakis picked up the win in goal, making 23 saves. Boxscore

Kenai River 4 @ Coulee Region 6 – The Chill scored three times in the 3rd period to take the second game of a three-game series, 6-4 on Friday. The Chill jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the 1st period with goals from Charlie Parker, Richard Zehnal and Garrett Riebling. The Brown Bears responded back with three goals in the 2nd period from Jack Gessert, Colton Fletcher and Ben Campbell. In a wild 3rd period, Parker added another goal for the Chill as did Isaac Theisen and Adam Lovick.  Gessert also scored his second of the game for the Brown Bears in the 3rd period. Boxscore

Soo 3 @ Janesville 6 – The Jets scored twice in each period in a balanced and effective offensive attack as they doubled up the Eagles, 6-3 to increase their North Division lead. Adam Winborg and Nils Rygaard scored in the 1st period, Cullen Munson and Rygaard added 2nd period goals and Jeff Alderfer and Zach Solow scored in the 3rd period for the Jets. The Eagles got two goals from Mitch Vanderburg and another from Will Gauthier. Matt Jurusik made 28 saves in the win. Boxscore

Amarillo 4 @ Odessa 3 – The Bulls came back from a two goal deficit to edge the Jackalopes, 4-3. It was Odessa who grabbed an early 2-0 lead in the 1st period on goals from Razmuz Waxin-Engback and Max Rasberg. The Bull stormed back with four straight goals including two in the 2nd period from Luke Novak and 3rd period goals from Joe Leonidas and Will Harrison. Leo Lumm added a late goal for the Jacks, but Odessa could not find the equalizer. Anton Martinsson made 26 saves in the win. Boxscore

Corpus Christi 1 @ Wichita Falls 7 – The Wildcats scored early and often as they closed the gap in the South Division to just four points for the top spot with a 7-1 win. Max Reisinger scored two goals including one in the 1st and one in the 2nd period. Paul Soubry and Colin Staub also scored in the 1st period. Kevin Charyszyn and Matt Koch scored in the 2nd period and Jonathan Lazarus added a 3rd period goal. Tanner Lomsnes scored the lone goal for the IceRays, which came late in the 1st period. David Zevnik made 21 saves in the win. Boxscore

Rio Grande Valley 2 @ Lone Star 4 – The Brahmas scored three goals in the 3rd period to outlast the Killer Bees by a 4-2 score. The Brahmas jumped up 1-0 early on a 1st period goal from Oskar Andren. The Killer Bees would respond with two goals in the 2nd period to take a 2-1 lead on tallies from Guy Roby and Evan Bell. Lone Star would respond with three goals in the 3rd period from Andy Madej, Sebastian Vidmar and Quinn Carroll. TJ Black made 15 saves in the win and Nick Schmit made 33 saves in the loss. Boxscore

Fairbanks 2 @ Wenatchee 3 – Zach Quinn made 37 saves as the Wild rebounded with a 3-2 win in the second game of a three game home series against Fairbanks. The Ice Dogs scored first with a 1st period goal from Lonnie Clary. The Wild would respond with three straight thanks to a 2nd period goal from Stevie Bryant and 3rd period goals from Andre Pison and another from Bryant. Ethan Somoza added the other goal for Fairbanks, which came late in the 3rd period. Chase Munroe took the loss, making 24 saves for the Ice Dogs. Boxscore
