Friday Finals: Brown's hat-trick keeps Bobcats rolling

Bismarck 7 @ Minot 3 – Willie Brown had a hat-trick as the Bobcats cruised to a 7-3 win in Minot on Friday. The Bobcats jumped out to a 3-1 lead in the 1st period with goals from Aaron Herdt, Jared Pike and Brown. Chase Springman had the lone goal for Minot. The Bobcats blew the game wide open with three more goals in the 2nd period from Joe Tyran, Brown and the second of the game from Pike. Brown got his hat-trick in the 3rd period on Bismarck’s 7th goal. Grayson Gavin and Steven Mather had the other goals for Minot. Hunter Shepard picked up the win, making 28 saves. Boxscore

Odessa 3 @ Lone Star 5 – The Brahmas scored five goals in the 3rd period in a 13 minute span to complete a big comeback in a 5-3 home win over the Jackalopes.  Things looked great through two periods for Odessa, who led 3-0 after two periods with goals from Andrew McLean, Daniel Kiraly and Dakoda Menslage. The Brahmas stormed back in the 3rd period with five goals from five different players including Samu Suominen, Johan Lundgren, Tyler Drevitch, Dalton Skelly and Alex Berardinelli. Corbin Kaczperski made nine saves in relief to pick up the win, while Gunner Rivers made 36 saves in the loss. Boxscore

Corpus Christi 2 @ Wichita Falls 6 – The Wildcats scored the last five goals of the game, including four in the 2nd period to defeat the IceRays 6-2, which snapped Corpus Christi’s five-game winning streak. After an opening goal from Wildcats forward Adam Goodsir, the IceRays took a 2-1 lead in the 2nd period with goals from Drake Lindsay and Mason Krueger. The Wildcats stormed back with four goals to finish out the 2nd period from Jonathan Lazarus, Domantas Cypas, Matt Hines and another from Goodsir. Austin Albrecht added a 3rd period goal. Justin Kapelmaster made 17 saves in the win. Boxscore

Brookings 5 @ Janesville 3 – The Blizzard scored four unanswered goals to end the game as they clawed back from a 3-1 deficit to beat the Jets in Janesville, 5-3. The Jets had leads of 2-0 and 3-1 with goals from Martin Sundberg, Michael Maloney and Adam Roeder. Peter Valent had the lone goal for Brookings during that stretch. The Blizzard started their comeback late in the 2nd period with a power play goal from Griff Jeszka and added three, 3rd period goals from Logan Rivard, Kane Durment and Mikael Hakkarainen. In his return to NAHL action, Blizzard goalie Jake Gwillim made 37 saves in the win, while Jack LaFontaine made 22 saves in the loss. Boxscore

MN Wilderness 3 @ MN Magicians 2 – The Wilderness came from behind with two, 3rd period goals to edge the Magicians, 3-2. The Wilderness jumped ahead 1-0 with a goal midway through the 1st period from Kobe Roth. The Magicians came back with two goals later in the opening period from Kyle Asmundson and Kyle Wagner to take a 2-1 lead to the lockerroom. After a scoreless 2nd period the Wilderness scored twice in a two-minute span late in the 3rd period with goals from Ryan Bloom and Koby Bender. Luke Kania made 27 saves in the win, while Will Ulrich made 25 saves in the loss. Boxscore

Aberdeen 2 @ Austin 3 – Justin Misiak scored halfway through overtime to give the Austin Bruins a come-from-behind 3-2 win at home over the Wings. Aberdeen scored both their goals in the 1st period to jump out to a 2-1 lead with tallies from Tucker DeYoung and Kevin Fitzgerald. Miha Zajc had the lone goal for the Bruins in the opening period. Austin tied the game at 2-2 with a late 3rd period goal from Jade Miller. Kris Carlson made 20 saves in the win, while Peter Thome made 25 in the loss. Boxscore

Springfield 2 @ Coulee Region 4 – The Chill scored three goals in the 3rd period to double up the Jr. Blues, 4-2. After a scoreless 1st period, each team scored once in the 2nd period as Drew Richter opened the scoring for Springfield and Davis Zembergs answered for Coulee Region. In the 3rd period goals from Colin Theisen, Dominik Florian and Aussie Miller gave the Chill the 4-2 win. Trevor Stone had the other goal for the Jr. Blues. Hunter Vorva made 34 saves in the win, while Tommy Nappier made 33 saves in the loss. Boxscore

Kenai River 4 @ Wilkes-Barre/Scranton 7 – The Knights scored three goals in the 3rd period and got goals from seven different players to beat the Brown Bears, 7-4. The Knights scored three goals in the 1st period and led 3-2 thanks to tallies from Blake Busch, Paul Maust and Jacob Hamacher. Paul DeNaples added a 2nd period goal and Carson Knop, Braden Brown and Austin Redders all scored in the 3rd period. Scoring for Kenai River was Jake Hartje, Justin Bofshever, Jordan Hank and Joey Sardina. Andrey Svistunov made 31 saves in the win. Nick Nast, who came in relief of Brian Baker, was saddled with the loss, making 28 saves. Boxscore

Fairbanks 4 @ Johnstown 2 – Fairbanks scored two late goals in the 3rd period to break a 2-2 tie and double up the Tomahawks in Johnstown, 4-2. The Tomahawks led 1-0 after one period with a 1st period power play goal from Luke Lynch. The Ice Dogs struck back with two power play goals of their own in the 2nd period as Tyler Tomberlin and Logan Coomes lit the lamp. Johnstown would tie the game at 2-2 early in the 3rd period on a goal from Andrew Romano, but the Ice Dogs got two goals late in the 3rd period from Ryner Gorowsky and Reggie Lutz to secure the 4-2 win. Gavin Nieto made 24 saves in the win, while Ryan Glander made 23 saves in the loss. Boxscore

New Jersey 2 @ Aston 1 – Spencer Wright made 25 saves to lead the Titans to a 2-1 road win in Aston to take over sole possession of 1st place in the East Division. New Jersey jumped out to a 1-0 lead with a 1st period power play goal from Keegan Miller. After a scoreless 2nd period, the Titans increased the lead to 2-0 with a goal early in the 3rd period from Victor Ostling. The Rebels finally broke through with a power play goal later in the 3rd period from Brennan Kapcheck, but could not find the equalizer. Darion Hanson made 26 saves in the loss. Boxscore
