New Jersey forward Smits makes NCAA commitment

The New Jersey Titans of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are proud to announce that forward Roberts Smits has committed to play NCAA Division III hockey and attend school at SUNY-Buffalo State beginning in the fall of 2016.
Smits, 21, completed his first season with the Titans and registered 11 goals and 12 assists for 23 points in 30 games played.
Smits also was selected to and played in the 2016 NAHL Top Prospects Tournament for the East Division team.
The Riga, Latvia native finishes his two-year NAHL career with 21 goals and 31 assists for 52 points in 111 games. He played the 2014-15 season with the Amarillo Bulls and Janesville Jets and the 2015-16 season with both the Titans and Jets.
SUNY-Buffalo State competes in the NCAA Division III SUNYAC and is coached by Steve Murphy, who is now in his 3rd season.
Smits is the ninth NCAA commitment from the 2015-16 roster.
