Springfield hires Rennette as Assistant Coach

The Springfield Jr. Blues, proud members of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), are pleased to announce the hiring of Tyler Rennette as the new assistant coach for the 2016-17 season.

 

The North Bay, Ontario native spent the past two seasons as the Head Coach of the Peoria Mustangs in the NA3HL after playing nine professional seasons in the AHL, ECHL and the UHL.  

 

“Rennette brings a skill set that will compliment Head Coach Tony Zasowski and elevate our game,” said team president Dan Ferguson. “Tyler had very good success at the NA3HL level and Coach Zasowski and I believe he will have similar results here in Springfield.”

 

Rennette helped the Mustangs in the NA3HL to a combined record of 55-31-8 over the past two seasons and finished 2nd in Midwest Division last season. “Leaving Peoria was a tough decision,” Rennette said. “I am proud of the program and what we accomplished. The step up to Springfield feels like the natural move for my career, and I look forward to the challenge.”

 

Drafted 40th overall in the 1997 NHL entry draft by the St. Louis Blues, Tyler Rennette enjoyed a 9-year professional career before retiring in 2011. He lead the Peoria Rivermen in goals in 2003 with 42 and in 2004 with 31. Drafted 2nd overall in the 1996 OHL draft by the North Bay Centennials, Rennette spent 4 seasons in the OHL between North Bay and Erie notching 77 goals and 189 pts in 177 games.

 

Tyler currently resides in Dunlap, IL with his wife Julie, boys Owen(9), Ryder(6) and daughter Stella(4).
