Friday Finals: Wildcats snap skid and move into 2nd place
Wichita Falls 5 @ Shreveport 1 – Five goals in a row led to the Wildcats’ 5-1 win in Shreveport on Friday. Wichita Falls saw goals from five different Wildcats, with scoring from Jeff Skinner, Blake Ripley, Kevin Fees, CJ Walker and Matt Hanewall. Andrew Lane scored the Mudbugs’ lone goal. Coulee Region 1 @ MN Wilderness 3 – Setting the tone in the second period, the Minnesota Wilderness grabbed a 3-1 win at home over Coulee Region to start their weekend. The Wilderness saw goals from Pavel Mikhasenok, Michael Zuffante, and Ashton Altmann. Jackson Decker scored Coulee Region’s lone goal. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton 5 @ Johnstown 7 – Completing a third period comeback on Friday was the Johnstown Tomahawks, who rallied to beat the Knights in a 7-5 game at home. Johnstown saw six different scorers, with goals coming from Hayden Rowan, Logan Stork, Joshua Biasillo, Nick Bruce (2), Dalton Hunter and Andrew Quetell. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton netted five goals in the contest, courtesy of Matt Kidney, Curtis Carlson, Sam Antonitsch (2), and Michael Morrissey. Corpus Christi 2 @ Odessa 3 – A Texan showdown fell in favor of the Jackalopes on Friday, when Odessa beat Corpus Christi by a score of 3-2. Tyler Pietrowski, Ludwig Stenlund and Nick Wilson each scored for Odessa in the win. Corpus Christi saw two goals from Larry Jungwirth and David Baskerville during the contest. Janesville 4 @ Austin 1 – With four goals in the second period, the Janesville Jets held on for a 4-1 victory over the Austin Bruins on Friday night. The Jets netted four straight goals in the second from Kip Hoffmann (2), Cullen Munson and Jakov Novak. Austin found their way on the score sheet with a goal from Jon Richards in the third period. MN Magicians 2 @ Springfield 5 – The Springfield Jr. Blues started the weekend in winning fashion with a 5-2 victory at home over the Magicians. Matt Long, Brennan Blaszczak, Connor Matsinger, Brandon Puricelli and Max Nylander scored goals for the Jr. Blues. The Magician’s two goals came from Will Hammer and Travis Brown. Bismarck 1 @ Aberdeen 2 – A close Friday night game fell in favor of the Aberdeen Wings, who held on for a 2-1 victory against Bismarck to start the weekend. Aberdeen scored two goals early, courtesy of Tyler Bossert and Carter Roo, which they held on to en route to their win. Bismarck saw a goal from Cooper Haar in the second period.
