Friday Finals: Titans, Ice Dogs stay alive with Game 3 wins

Luke Orysiuk had a pair of assists as Fairbanks avoided elimination on Friday with a 3-1 win in Game 3.

East Division Finals, Game 3: Aston Rebels 0 @ New Jersey Titans 4 (Aston leads series 2-1) - The New Jersey Titans held a steady offensive presence on their way to their first win in the East Division Finals. Gordie Helmuth opened the game with a goal at 5:15 after a pass from Tiernan Seningen to put the Titans up 1-0. Nick Boyagian extended their lead with help from Danny Eruzione and Andrew Husted at 17:33 of the second period. After forty minutes of play, the New Jersey Titans lead the Aston Rebels, 2-0. Dylan Healey found the back of the net at 5:32 of the third period – assisted by William Riedell and Todd Goehring. Goehring brought the final score to 4-0 with an empty netter off a pass from Healey. New Jersey’s Ryan Ferland made 22 saves for the shutout victory, while Mareks Mitens stopped 28 shots for Aston. With the win, the Titans keep their Robertson Cup dreams alive – forcing a Game 4. Boxscore

Central Division Finals, Game 3: Minnesota Wilderness 4 @ Aberdeen Wings 1 (Minnesota leads series, 2-1) - A pair of goals from Nick Altmann helped push the Minnesota Wilderness to take their first series lead after a 4-1 victory over the Aberdeen Wings in Game 3. Nick Altmann opened the game with a goal just 5 seconds into the first period, unassisted. Tim Nicksic also notched one in the first period – at 10:27, also unassisted. Altmann found the back of the net again at 13:18 of the second period, with help from Ashton Altmann and Tyler Vold. Luke Dow brought the scoring total to four goals – at 18:48, assisted by N. Altmann and Gunnar Goodmanson. The Wilderness head into the third period with a 4 goal lead. Colin Raver notched the only Wings’ goal of the night, off a pass from Carter Roo at 17:41 of the third – bringing the final score to 4-1. Minnesota’s Luke Kania made 30 saves on the night, while Forbes Ploszaj stopped 23 shots for Aberdeen. Minnesota heads into Game 4 with a chance to advance to the Robertson Cup, and the Wings face elimination. Boxscore

Midwest Division Finals, Game 3: Janesville Jets 1 @ Fairbanks Ice Dogs 3 (Janesville leads series, 2-1) - The Fairbanks Ice Dogs grabbed an early lead to secure a 3-1 victory and pick up their first win of the Midwest Division Finals and first win in seven tries this season against the Jets. Ryan Kero opened the game with a goal at 17:45 – assisted by Tanner Schachle and Luke Orysiuk. Erkka Vanska scored at 11:17 of the second to extend the Ice Dogs lead to two goals. Vanska was assisted by Orysiuk and Connor Chilton. Cayden Cahill brought the scoring total to 3 when he found the back of the net at 18:48 of the second period, with help from Hunter Wendt and Marc Sullivan. Down by three, Jack Gates notched the only Janesville goal when he notched one at 13:14 of the final period, assisted by Cole Paskus and Adam Roeder. Fairbanks goaltender Erik Gordon made 35 saves on the night, while Jacob Barczewski stopped 17 shots for the Jets. With the win, Fairbanks forces Game 4 on Saturday night in Fairbanks. Boxscore
