Friday Finals: Jets roll to sweep with shutout

Keenan Johnson scored his first goal of the season to help the Topeka RoadRunners to a come-from-behind 3-2 win on Friday.

MN Magicians 0 @ Janesville 4 - Jakov Novak scored twice and Kip Hoffman added three assists as the Jets blanked the Magicians 4-0. Erik Palmqvist scored and added two assists and John Pesek also scored for Janesville. Daniel Lebedeff was a perfect 21-for-21 to pick up his first shutout of the year. George McBey stopped 41 of 45 shots in the loss to Janesville.

Kenai River 2 @ Wilkes-Barre/Scranton 5 - The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights scored early and often as they skated to a 5-2 victory over the Kenai River Brown Bears. Matt Kidney lit the lamp twice in the first period while Curtis Carlson scored a goal and had an assist. Reed Robinson and Justin Engelkes each scored in the win for the Knights. David Tomeo turned aside 33 of 35 shots thrown in his direction. Gil Garcia and Connor Fedorek scored for Kenai River.

Aberdeen 6 @ Brookings 3 - Six different Aberdeen players found the scoresheet as the Wings doubled up the Blizzard 6-3 to take over 1st place in the Central Division. Nathan Burke led all Wings with a pair of points. John Sladic, Evan Rochowiak, Riley Murphy, Adam Pitters and Jonathan Bendorf all found the back of the net in the victory. Gabe Vinal picked up his eighth win of the year as he made 27 saves. Vince Marino, Derek Hammer and Dylan Schuett scored for Brookings while Zachary Borgiel made 30 saves.

MN Wilderness 4 @ Austin 3 (SO) - Eric Gotz’s goal in the shootout lifted the Minnesota Wilderness to a win against the Austin Bruins. Nick Altmann, Nathan Horn and Ondrej Trejbal all scored for Minnesota in regulation. Ryan Fanti was remarkable as he made 48 saves in 65 minutes of action and then stopped three of four shooters in the skills competition. Dan Petrick, Dante Sheriff and Travis Kothenbeutel scored for the Bruins in the loss, Alex Schilling made 27 saves.

Shreveport 3 @ Corpus Christi 2 (SO) - Gueorgui Feduolov scored the game tying goal in the third period and then scored the game deciding goal in the shootout. Kieran Durgan also scored for the Mudbugs. James Durham made 30 saves on 32 shots and denied all three shooters in the shootoout. Ryan Rosenberg scored his first of the year for Corpus Christi and Rylee St. Onge scored as well. Jake Acton picked up the tough loss for the IceRays as he stopped 39 of 41 shots.

Minot 5 @ Bismarck 3 - The Minotauros started the second half of the season on the right track as they knocked off Bismarck by a score of 5-3. Miroslav Mucha scored two goals while Austin Dollimer and Andrew Kangas each had a goal and two assists. Jake Rosenbaum also scored for Minot in the win. Samu Lonkila got the win in between the pipes as he made 33 saves. Cooper Haar led the Bobcats with a goal and an assist. Joseph Mancuso and Jacob Marti also scored for Bismarck. Ryan Ullan was stuck with the loss despite making 32 saves.

Springfield 2 @ Topeka 3 - Keenan Johnson’s first goal of the season proved to be the game winner as the RoadRunners defeated the Jr. Blues 3-2. Jakub Urbanek and Adrian Elefalk also scored for Topeka. Sam Metcalf earned the win for the RoadRunners, he made 22 saves in the win. Jeff Skinner and Max Brainin lit the lamp for Springfield.

Amarillo 2 @ Odessa 3 (SO) - The Odessa Jackalops didn't hold a lead until the very end, that’s when Evan Somoza scoring the game deciding goal in the shootout. Somoza also scored a power play goal for the Jacks’ in the second period. Matt Brown scored a shorthanded goal to tie the game in the third. Brett Epp made 31 saves as he picked up his eighth win of the year. Brett Abdelnour and Alex Peterson scored for Amarillo in the loss, Jason Grande made 40 saves for the Bulls.
