June 13, 2018
The Aberdeen Wings, proud members of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), are pleased to announce that forward Evan Rochowiak has announced his commitment to play NCAA Division III hockey for UMass-Boston.
Rochowiak, 21, came to the Wings midway through the 2017-18 season from the Odessa Jackalopes. The 6’2/192 lbs. native of Livonia, Michigan played in 55 games overall during this past season, putting up 14 goals and 14 assists for 28 points and 104 penalty minutes.
Rochowiak was also selected to and played in the 2018 NAHL Top Prospects Tournament for the Central Division team, where he had a goal in two games played during the event.
UMass-Boston plays NCAA Division III hockey in the NEHC Conference. Last season they had a record of 17-10 including going 11-7 in conference play.
“I’m happy to be joining the UMass-Boston family and looking forward to getting the season started. It was an easy choice with the coaches, team, campus, and the city of Boston. Coach Belisle and Coach Schneider hold the hockey program to a high standard and I look to continue to build on the foundation they’ve created. I’d like to thank the Odde family and the Aberdeen Wings staff and my teammates for giving me the opportunity to move on to the next level,” said Rochowiak.
“Evan was a great addition to this family and he plays and carries himself like a pro. Evan is made up with the work ethic and that will pay dividends at the next level. We wish him the very best in his future,” said Wings Head Coach Scott Langer.
