Saturday Scores: Bulls, IceRays highlight South sweeps

Austin Bruins goalie Kyle McClellan gave up just two goals in a weekend sweep of the Brookings Blizzard helping the Bruins to their 5th straight win.

Lone Star 2 @ Amarillo 3 - The Amarillo Bulls completed the sweep of the Lone Star Brahmas as Gagik Malakyan, Jake Willets and Brenden West all found the back of the net and Justin Evenson made 23 stops. Frank Trazzera and Scott Persson provided the offense for Lone Star as they were the only ones to light the lamp. Seth Eisele made 35 saves for Lone Star.
 
Odessa 2 @ Corpus Christi 5 -  The offensive explosion continued for the IceRays as Jack Smiley registered a pair of goals. Blake Bennett had a goal and an assist as well. Santeri Hartikainen and Jack Sampson also found the back of the net for Corpus Christi. Sam Best was at his best as he made 46 saves in the contest. Connor Fedorek and Kyle Herbster picked up goals for the Jackalopes. Alex Camarre made 40 saves in the loss.
 
Wilkes-Barre/Scranton 4 @ Northeast 0 - Brett Postula had two goals and William Otwell had two assists as the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights registered a 4-0 victory over the Northeast Generals. Davis Pennington logged a goal and an assist while Adrian Dancheko also tallied a goal. Zach Stejskal stopped 46 shots to earn his third shutout of the season. Marko Sturma made 26 stops for Northeast. 
 
MN Wilderness 3 @ Aberdeen 4 - The Wings kept sole possession of first place in the Central Division as |Joe Strada scored with 29 seconds to give Aberdeen a 4-3 win over the Minnesota Wilderness. Riley Murphy tallied a goal and an assist, Jake Beaune and Dalton Weigel also scored for Aberdeen. Matt Vernon picked up the win as he made 33 saves for the home club. Dylan Johnson, Oula Kuure and Tyler Watkins scored for the Wilderness. Ryan Fanti made 30 saves in the defeat. 
 
Austin 4 @ Brookings 1 - For the second straight night, the Austin Bruins took a 4-1 decision from the Brookings Blizzard. Garrett Dahm tallied two goals in the win, while Josef Mysak had a goal and two assists. Richard Szabo also scored for the Bruins, Kyle McClellan earned the win between the pipes as he stopped 20 attempts from Brookings. Cam Babiak registered the only goal for the Blizzard, and Jack Caruso made 28 saves.
 
Johnstown 3 @ Jamestown 2 - The Johnstown Tomahawks got right back to their winning ways as Carson Briere, Joe Kile and Bennett Stockdale all found the back of the net, in the Tomahawks 3-2 win over the Rebels. Alex Roy had a goal and an assist for Jamestown, Antonio Venuto scored the other goal for the Rebels. Cooper Lukenda got the win in goal, he made 24 saves. Noah West took the loss as he made 23 stops.  
 
Maryland 3 @ New Jersey 5 - Ryan Naumovski’s goal and two assists led the New Jersey Titans to a 5-3 win over the Maryland Black Bears. Kyle Jeffers potted a pair pf goals for the Titans and Thomas Lacombe and Eric Manoukian also got in on the action. Ryan Winter stopped 28 of 31 shots thrown at him. Luke Mountain had a goal and an assist for the Black Bears, while Daylon Mannon notched a pair of goals. David Tomeo took the loss as he stopped 31 of 36 shots. 
 
Fairbanks 6 @ Chippewa 2 - The Ice Dogs grabbed their first win of the weekend as Parker Brown notched a hat trick and added a helper. Jonathan Sorenson had four assists while Tanner Edwards had three. Grant Ledford had two goals and an assists while Luke Ciolli had a goal and an assist. Mattias Sholl got the win in goal as he made 25 saves. Jacob Dirks and Connor Szmul had the only goals for Chippewa and Josh Langford made 46 stops. 
 
Shreveport 3 @ Topeka 4 (OT) - Brenden Schultz’s goal in the final minute of overtime lifted the Topeka Pilots over the Shreveport Mudbugs 4-3. Michael Muschtiello and Austin McCarthy had a goal and an assist while Connor Zillsch tallied a goal as well. Emil Gransoe stopped 40 shots to earn the win. Timothy Clifton, Dakota Concannon and Lukass Sicevs all scored for Shreveport. Maiszon Balboa got the loss as he made 23 saves.
 
Bismarck 3 @ Minot 4 - David Raisanen’s two goals lifted the Minot Minotauros to a 4-3 decision over the Bismarck Bobcats. Justin Kelley had a goal and an assist in the action while Kyle Oleksiuk also scored. Ben Garrity didn’t have to work too hard as he made 18 saves. Tim Piechowski, Austin Jouppi and Sam Walinski provided the offense for Bismarck. Atticus Kelly was given the loss despite making 46 saves. 
 
Kenai River 3 @ MN Magicians 4 - The Minnesota Magicians took two of three from the Kenai River Brown Bears as Cam Buhl and Andrew Kruse each registered a goal and an assist. Christian Dahl and Konner Lundeen also found the back of the net for Miinnesota. Ethan Haider continued his strong play as he made 40 saves to pick up the win. Johan Bok, Porter Schachle and Andy Walker all grabbed tallies for the Brown Bears in this one. Gavin Enright made 32 saves in the loss.
