Friday Finals: Bulls back in the playoffs after four-year drought

Fairbanks goalie Nate Reid posted his 4th shutout of the year on Friday night as the Fairbanks Ice Dogs beat the Minnesota Magicians, 3-0.

Amarillo 3 @ Shreveport 2 (OT) - Gabriel Seger’s overtime goal clinched a playoff spot for the Amarillo Bulls, their first since 2014. Logan Jenuwine picked up a goal and an assist in the win for the Bulls while Jason Brancheau also found the back of the net. Jason Grande stopped 29 of 31 shots to earn his 19th victory of the season. C.J. Regula and Ethan Harrison were the goal scorers for the Mudbugs. Maiszon Balboa turned aside 23 shots for Shreveport. 
 
Jamestown 6 @ Johnstown 7 (OT) - Hunter Toale’s goal at the 1:13 mark of overtime lifted the Johnstown Tomahawks to a 7-6 win over the Jamestown Rebels in one of the most entertaining games of the year. Roman Kraemer’s second goal of the night came with just 34 seconds remaining to tie the game for the Tomahawks. Toale finished the night with four points while Carson Briere tallied a goal and two assists. Cameron Hebert potted a pair of goals and Austin Friesen also found the back of the net. Carter McPhail stopped 24 shots to earn the victory for Johnstown. Noah Finstrom, Jim Glynn and Antonio Venuto each had a goal and an assist for Jamestown. Jake Felker, Caleb Price and Niki Jasko all scored as well. Noah West took the loss as he stopped five shots in relief. Ryan Keane turned aside 15 shots for Jamestown.

MN Wilderness 5 @ Bismarck 4 (OT) - Jack Johnson scored two goals, including the overtime game winner as the Minnesota Wilderness overcame a 4-2 deficit to defeat the Bismarck Bobcats 5-4. A wild 1st period saw the Bobcats jump out to a 3-2 lead with goals from Ryan Robinson, Willy Stauber, and George Grannis, while Nick Portz and Dylan Johnson scored for Minnesota. The Bobcats took a 4-2 lead with a 2nd period goal from Andy Stoneman. In the 3rd period, the Wilderness stormed back to tie the game with goals from Dylan Johnson and Jack Johnson. Jack Johnson then ended the game and comeback 1:37 into overtime. Kaleb Johnson made 29 saves in the win, while John Roberts made 26 saves in the loss.
 
Wilkes-Barre/Scranton 3 @ Maryland 2 (OT) - The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights skated away with the overtime victory after Gabe Temple buried his 14th goal of the season. Sacha Guillemain and Evan Orr tallied goals for the Knights in regulation. Zach Stejskal stopped 36 shots for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. Bobby Batten and Daylon Mannon lit the lamp for Maryland in the loss. David Tomeo made 23 saves. 
 
Minot 1 @ Austin 2 - Hugh Larkin’s goal at the 4:59 mark of the third period stood as the game winning goal and the Austin Bruins held off the Minot Minotauros 2-1. Ben Almquist had a goal and an assist for Austin. Recently committed Kyle McClellan stopped 15 of 16 shots. Cole O’Connell scored the only goal for Minot. Nicholas Grabko stopped 34 shots for the Minotauros.
 
Northeast 2 @ New Jersey 4 - Gavin Gulash’s three points led the New Jersey Titans to a 4-2 win over the Northeast Generals. Michael Outzen and Jake LaRusso found the back of the night as well for New Jersey. Brandon Perrone turned aside 35 shots. Hunter Alden and Svet Kuchynski scored for the Generals. David Fessenden took the loss for Northeast as he made 24.
 
Aberdeen 4 @ Brookings 1 - Adam Pitters scored maybe the goal of the year and the Aberdeen Wings defeated the Brookings Blizzard 4-1. John Sladic, Tim Makowski and Thomas Rocco tallied goals for the Wings in the win. Luke Aquaro scored the lone goal for Brookings. Matt Vernon made 23 saves for the win while George McBey denied 24 shots in the loss.
 
Odessa 1 @ Corpus Christi 5 - Mitchell Walinski scored two goals in his IceRays debut and Anthony Firriolo tallied four assists in the Corpus Christi IceRays 5-1 victory over the Odessa Jackalopes. Nicholas Seitz scored a goal and had two helpers. Santeri Hartikainen added a goal and an assist. Brian George stopped 33 shots to earn the win in goal. John Serafin scored for Odessa and Alex Camarre made 31 saves.
 
Springfield 3 @ Janesville 0 - The Springfield Jr. Blues continued their hot streak as they shutout the Janesville Jets 3-0 on Friday night. Jack Williams was perfect as he turned aside all 19 shots thrown in his direction. Max Osborne and Lukas Kucera lit the lamp as well in the win. Sam Metcalf stopped 18 shots for the Jets.
 
Kenai River 5 @ Chippewa 0 - Gavin Enright was unbeatable as he stopped all 33 Chippewa shots en route to a 5-0 win. Connor Scahill scored twice while JJ Boucher and Zach Krajnik each had a goal and an assist. Justin Daly also found some room on the scoresheet. Igor Samokhvalov and Josh Langford combined 28 saves for the Steel.
 
Fairbanks 3 @ MN Magicians 0 - Nate Reid stopped all 16 shots that came his way and the Fairbanks Ice Dogs blanked the Minnesota Magicians 3-0. Parker Brown, Tanner Edwards and Luke Ciolli all found the back of the net in the victory and the Ice Dogs pulled within three points of first place in the Midwest Division. Ethan Haider made 25 saves for the Magicians. 
 
Topeka 3 @ Lone Star 5 - Blake Evennou led the way with a goal and two assists and the Lone Star Brahmas grounded the Topeka Pilots 5-3. Matt Guerra and Zach Heintz tallied a goal and an assist for the Brahmas. Eric Huss and Noah Roofe potted goals as well for Lone Star. Seth Eisele only needed to make 16 saves to grab his 12th win of the year. Michael Muschitiello, Matthew Francois and Kyler Yeo were the goal scorers for Topeka. Emil Gransoe stopped 33 shots for the Pilots.
