Friday Finals: Mudbugs clinch playoff spot with win

Minnesota Wilderness and NAHL Top Prospects goalie Ryan Fanti posted his third shutout of the season on Friday night in a 3-0 win.

Corpus Christi 2 @ Shreveport 4 - The defending Robertson Cup champions are headed back to the postseason after they doubled up the Corpus Christi IceRays, 4-2. Warren Natyshak found the back of the net twice while Tim Khoklachev and Billy Feczko also scored for Shreveport. Leo Chuard stopped 33 shots and won his 16th game of the season. Nick Godfrey and Kyle Moore scored for the IceRays while Samuel Vyletelka made 30 saves. 
 
MN Wilderness 3 @ Brookings 0 - Ryan Fanti turned aside all 26 shots thrown his way and the Minnesota Wilderness blanked the Brookings Blizzard, 3-0. Aaron Myers, Ryan Nelson and Nick Portz all lit the lamp for the Wilderness. Ondrej Trejbal, Dylan Johnson, Ashton Altmann and Jack Johnson all picked up helpers in the win. George McBey and Luc Haggitt combined for 15 saves. 
 
Jamestown 2 @ New Jersey 1 - Ryan Keane made 24 saves and the Jamestown Rebels defeated the New Jersey Titans by a score of 2-1. James Crossman had a goal and an assist while Colin Schmidt also lit the lamp. Zach Nazzarett scored late for the Titans and Brandon Perrone made 28 stops for New Jersey.
 
Northeast 5 @ Wilkes-Barre/Scranton 4 (OT) - Louis Boudon’s goal in overtime gave the Northeast Generals a 5-4 win over the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights and a slightly bigger cushion in the East Division standings. Alex Cohen had a goal and two assists for the Generals, John Jaworski also bagged a goal and an assist. Svet Kuchynski and Gerard Marretta also chipped in goals for Northeast. David Fessenden earned the win in goal as he made 25 saves. Jordan Strand tied the game with eight seconds left in regulation to force overtime while Adrian Danchenko, Jake Fuss and Zak Currie all netted goals for the Knights. Zach Stejskal took the loss, making 37 saves.
 
Janesville 1 @ MN Magicians 3 - Jackson Jutting netted two goals and the Minnesota Magicians grounded the Janesville Jets, 3-1. Jack Jensen scored as well for the Magicians while Ethan Haider made 28 saves to earn his 18th win of the season. Nicholas Nardella scored the lone goal for Janesville and Cole Brady made 33 stops for the Jets.
 
Springfield 4 @ Chippewa 5 (OT) - Killian Kiecker-Olson’s goal in overtime completed one of the most improbable comebacks in recent NAHL history as the Chippewa Steel overcame a 4-0 deficit to defeat the Springfield Jr. Blues, 5-4. Connor Szmul’s second goal of the game tied it up with 22 seconds to force overtime. Jacob Dirks and Brendan Ogle also scored in the Chippewa victory. Trent Burnham stopped all 19 shots he faced to pickup the win in relief. Nikita Kozyrev, Caden Villegas, Nigel Nelson, and Max Brainin all scored goals for the Jr. Blues. Jack Williams made 23 saves in the loss.
 
Topeka 2 @ Odessa 3 - Joseph Winkelmann’s goal with 2:59 remaining proved to be the game winner as the Odessa Jackalopes came from behind to drop the Topeka Pilots 3-2. Connor Fedorek and Vilho Saariluoma bagged goals for the Jackalopes. Kade Phipps stopped 34 shots for Odessa, earning his 10th win of the year. Quinn Green and Valdemar Ahlberg potted goals for the Pilots. McLean Dorr took the loss despite making 31 saves. 
 
Minot 2 @ Aberdeen 5 - The Aberdeen Wings sent a message on Friday night as they took care of the Minot Minotauros, 5-2. John Sladic and Stepan Pokorny each had a goal and an assist. Pierson Brandon, Connor Beatty, and Jonathan Bendorf all notched goals as well for the Wings. Matt Vernon stopped 26 of 28 shots, winning his league leading 37th game of the season. Didrik Henbrant and Connor McGinnis scored for the Minotauros. Nicholas Grabko was dealt the loss after he made 37 saves. 
 
Austin 2 @ Bismarck 3 - A late goal from Alex Pollock gave the Bismarck Bobcats a 3-2 win and sole possession of third place in the Central Division. Tim Piechowski and Austin Jouppi also found the back of the net for Bismarck. Johnny Roberts picked up the win as he made 31 stops. Dante Zapata and Hugh Larkin provided the offense for the Bruins. Kyle McClellan was given the loss in goal as he made 23 saves.
 
Amarillo 2 @ Lone Star 1 - Gabriel Seger’s goal at the 4:29 mark of the third period was the game winner as the Amarillo Bulls outlasted the Lone Star Brahmas, 2-1. David Ojamae scored as well for the Bulls while Brendan West, Alex Peterson and Christian Abrams tacked on assists. Jason Grande stopped 31 of 32 shots to earn the win in goal. Jake Suede scored the only goal for Lone Star while Seth Eisele made 16 saves.
 
Fairbanks 2 @ Kenai River 4 - Laudon Poellinger registered three points and Gavin Enright made 46 saves as the Kenai River Brown Bears dropped the Fairbanks Ice Dogs, 4-2. Alex Klekotka, Thomas Walker, and Zach Krajnik all netted goals for the Brown Bears. John Stampohar and Jonathan Sorenson each had a goal and an assist for the Fairbanks Ice Dogs. Nate Reid stopped 28 shots for the Ice Dogs.
