Friday Finals: Tomahawks tighten East race with win

Carson Nichols scored two goals as Shreveport kicked off an 8-game homestand with a 3-1 win on Friday.

New Jersey 1 @ Johnstown 4 - Christian Gorscak scored twice as the Johnstown Tomahawks inched closer to first place after defeating the New Jersey Titans 4-1. Andrew Murphy and Spencer DenBeste also found the back of the net for the Tomahawks. David Tomeo improved to 11-4 on the year as he made 27 saves. Shane Haviland scored the only goal for the Titans while Arseni Sergeev stopped 17 shots.
 
New Mexico 1 @ Shreveport 3 - Carson Nichols potted a pair of goals to lead the Shreveport Mudbugs over the New Mexico Ice Wolves by a score of 3-1. Alexis Girard contributed a goal and an assist for the Mudbugs while Maiszon Balboa stopped 18 of 19 shots fired in his direction. Philip Ekberg netted the only goal for the Ice Wolves while Josh Graziano made 32 saves in the loss.
 
MN Wilderness 2 @ Aberdeen 6 - Five different players had at least two points for the Aberdeen Wings as they dominated the Minnesota Wilderness 6-2. Cooper Haar led all skaters with a goal and two assists while Spencer Schneider, Huston Karpman, Mack Byers and Jakob Breault all had a goal and an assist in the win. Clayton Cosentino also chipped in a goal for Aberdeen. Henry Welsch needed only 23 saves to pick up the win in net. Garrett Worth tallied a goal and an assist for the Wilderness while Aaron Myers also scored. Kaleb Johnson and Jonathan Mor teamed up to make 33 saves.
 
Minot 3 @ Bismarck 4 - Ethan Gauer’s power play goal in the third period was the difference maker as the Bismarck Bobcats beat the Minot Minotauros 4-3. The Bobcats erased a two-goal deficit in the second period as Grant Johnson and Sam Martel found the back of the net. Daniel Chladek scored the other Bismarck goal. Andranik Armstrong-Kingkade, Joseph Harguindeguy and Jack Westlund all contributed goals for the Minotauros. Andrew Miller improved to 11-1-1 on the year as he made 25 saves. Ben Garrity fell to 10-5-1-1 as he made 28 stops.
 
Amarillo 7 @ Odessa 2 - Jonathan Young netted a hat trick to lead the Amarillo Bulls to a 7-2 win over the Odessa Jackalopes. Niclas Puikkonen registered a goal and two assists while Aaron White, Noah Carlin and Nick Stapleton also scored for Amarillo. Jordan Venegoni and Matt Allen each chipped in three assists. Charlie Glockner stopped 28 of 30 shots to earn the win. Matt Hutton and Vilho Saariluoma tallied the only goals for Odessa while Aaron Randazzo and Jaeger Reed combined for 32 saves.

MN Magicians 0 @ Fairbanks 5 - Mattias Sholl grabbed his second shutout of the season as the Fairbanks Ice Dogs blanked the Minnesota Magicians 5-0. Sholl denied all 26 Minnesota shots to improve to 15-7-2 on the season. Matt Koethe potted a pair of goals while Jack Johnston, Adam Eisele and Barak Braslavski all found the themselves on the scoresheet. Wes Mankowski and Samuel Vyletelka teamed up to make 38 saves in the loss.
 
Janesville 2 @ Kenai River 5 - The Kenai River Brown Bears snapped their short losing streak as they defeated the Janesville Jets 5-2. Porter Schachle and Zach Krajnik each had a goal and an assist to lead Kenai River. Bryan Huggins, Cody Moline and Laudon Poellinger all visited the red light district in the win. Landon Pavlisin got back in the win column as he made 19 saves. Brandon McNamara and Charlie Schoen netted goals for Janesville. Grant Riley made 19 saves in a losing effort.
 
Maine 3 @ Northeast 2 - Ethan Prout’s third goal of the season proved to be the game winner as the Maine Nordiques held off the Northeast Generals 3-2. Stefan Owens and Cannon Green also lit the lamp for the Nordiques in the win. Marco Duronio made 38 saves to earn his second win of the season. Tyler Cooper and Trevor Smith scored in the loss for the Generals while Connor Bradford made 38 saves.
 
Jamestown 3 @ Maryland 1 - Noah West was spectacular in goal as he allowed just one goal on 37 shots as the Jamestown Rebels beat the Maryland Black Bears 3-1. Valentino Passarelli, Eric Olson and Janis Vizbelis all netted goals for Jamestown. Luke Mountain scored the lone goal for the Black Bears. Andrew Takacs took the loss as he made 22 saves.
 
Lone Star 1 @ Corpus Christi 3 - The Corpus Christi IceRays scored three unanswered goals after giving up the game’s first goal to the Lone Star Brahmas as they went on to win 3-1 on Friday night. Jerry Mulack scored his first goal of the season, Shane Bull tallied his 10th of the year and Evan Carroll chipped in his sixth goal to carry the IceRays offense. Cal Sandquist won his eighth game of the year as he made 22 saves. Mitchell Digby scored Lone Star’s only goal off a nice feed from Matt Guerra and Noah Roofe. Cayden Bailey was dealt the loss as he made 19 stops. 
 
St. Cloud 4 @ Austin 3 - Luke Aquaro scored with 50 seconds remaining in regulation as the St. Cloud Blizzard topped the Austin Bruins 4-3. Brady Bjork, Jack Suchy, and Max Johnson all found the back of the net for the Blizzard in the victory. Sam Metcalf grabbed the win in goal as he turned aside 22 shots. Ben Almquist continued his hot streak with a goal and an assist. Josef Mysak also registered a goal and an assist while Cullen Rush netted his first goal of the year. Tyler Shea made 23 saves in a losing effort.
 
Springfield 3 @ Topeka 5 - Quinn Green logged a goal and an assist to lead the Topeka Pilots to a 5-3 win over the Springfield Jr. Blues. Luc Salem, Dominic Sandoval, Michael Muschitiello and Vincent Corcoran all lit the lamp for the Pilots. Guy Blessing got his sixth win of the season as he made 15 stops. Caden Villegas and Jonathan Panisa each tallied a goal and an assist while Leo Bacallao scored as well for the Jr. Blues. Ryan Wilson and Alex Proctor teamed up to make 30 saves.
