New Jersey forward Keresztes makes NCAA D1 commitment

December 3, 2020

The New Jersey Titans, proud members of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), are pleased to announce that forward Levente Keresztes has committed to play NCAA Division 1 Hockey for the Long Island University Sharks who are a NCAA Division 1 independent team.

Keresztes, 18, is in his first season with the Titans. The 6’5/200 lbs. native of Budapest, Hungary has six points (2 goals and 4 assists) in seven games so far this year.

“I am extremely excited and honored to announce that I have committed to Long Island University to play Division 1 college hockey and to further my education,” stated Keresztes. “I would like to thank my coaches, teammates, family and friends for helping me along this process.”

“What an exciting day for Levente and his family,” stated Titans head coach and general manager Craig Doremus. “For any foreign player it must be so gratifying to see their hard work and sacrifice come to fruition.  Levente left home to come to the United States two years ago with the goal of getting a scholarship and playing Division 1 hockey and to see his dreams come true is awesome.  He was so happy and proud to announce his commitment to the Long Island University Sharks.  The coaches there were on him for quite some time and had remained active in their recruitment.  Levente is a really talented young man who has such a high ceiling in terms of what he can become as a player.  We are so happy to have him now and more excited to continue to work with him on his growth, maturation and development as a player and person.  Coach Riley and the staff at LIU are getting a great young man and extremely talented hockey player.”

Long Island University is in Brooklyn, NY. The Sharks are coached by Brett Riley. This is the program’s inaugural season.
