December 16, 2020

Tyler Gaulin has his third game-winning goal of the season on Tuesday night in a 3-2 win.

Tuesday's Box Scores

St. Cloud 2 @ Bismarck 1 (SO) - A shutdown performance from goaltender Paxton Geisel and a shootout winner from Jack Suchy lifted the Norsemen to their second straight victory in a 2-1 win over the Bismarck Bobcats on Tuesday. The opening period saw the hosts take a 1-0 lead when Bismarck’s Quinn Rudrud netted an even strength goal at 7:12 into the frame. In the 2nd period, the Norsemen capitalized on a Bobcats defensive miscue as Blake Mesenburg secured the short-handed tally to tie the game. After a scoreless third period and the same score line following overtime, the game headed to the shootout where Jack Suchy would score the only goal for the Norsemen while Goaltender Paxton Geisel dazzled, stopping all three Bismarck shots to secure the victory. Geisel made 29 saves in the win, while Bobcats goalie Tommy Aitken made 23 saves in the shootout loss.

Northeast 2 @ Maine 3 – The late-game heroics continued for the Maine Nordiques as Tyler Gaulin once again supplied the excitement, scoring with eight seconds remaining in regulation in a 3-2 win on Tuesday. The Nordiques took a 1-0 lead in the 1st period as Makem Demers scored a late power play goal. The Generals responded back in the 2nd period to tie the game at 1-1 as Jonathan Young netted his 4th goal of the season. In the 3rd period, a goal from Dylan Schuett briefly gave the Generals the lead. However, the Nordiques tied the game later in the power with a power play goal from Stefan Owens. The game-winner came of a face-off deep in the Generals end as Gaulin took a pass in the high slot and beat Generals goalie Anton Castro over the shoulder. Nordiques goalie Tyriq Outen made 24 saves in the while, while Castro made 44 saves in the loss.
