Generals and Ice Wolves cap weekend with close wins

New Mexico goalie Josh Graziano made 29 saves in a 2-1 win on Sunday.

Northeast 2 @ Maine 1 (OT) – Anton Castro made 32 saves to help the Northeast Generals salvage a win in their three-game weekend series against the Nordiques thanks to a 2-1 overtime win on Sunday. The Nordiques took a 1-0 lead in the 1st period with a goal from Stefan Owens. The Generals were quick to respond early in the 2nd period on a goal from Isaac Novak. After a scoreless 3rd period, the Generals ended the game 2:15 into overtime as Ricky Boysen netted a rebound goal on the power play. Nordiques goalie Tyriq Outen made 28 saves in the loss.

Odessa 1 @ New Mexico 2 – Ice Wolves goalie Josh Graziano made 29 saves to lead his club to a 2-1 win over the visiting Jackalopes on Sunday. The Ice Wolves opened the scoring midway through the 1st period as Taylor Ewing netted his first goal of the season with a power play strike. The Jackalopes tied the game early in the 2nd period as Fletcher Anderson scored his 6th goal of the season. Midway through the period, the Ice Wolves scored the eventual game-winner as Spencer Rudrud scored his 6th goal of the season. Jackalopes goalie Connor Hasley made 20 saves in the losing effort.
